MODOT is doing a stellar job clearing the roads!

I feel for those of you who have to work or go out today. Seems that there are those who have lived there whole life here in MO and have driven in snow before. But for some dumb reason they have to either be in an accident or see a few before they remember that you need to slow down and drive a little better in this stuff. As for me, I will be staying home today. And watch all of the white stuff falling and blowing around. And tonight I will watch my Christmas lights that dance to music (yes I sequence my lights to music). They look even better when there is some snow on the ground.

scpd755 and any other who have to work in this stuff today. I pray that you are careful and that others around you do the same. BTW how are the roads? Are you finding any that are icey?

Roads ain't to bad. Wind is actually keeping them fairly clear.  Where there is a wind break the roads are covered.  I was driving down the outer road and people are still driving 85 and 90 accidents will start a more people start moving. At least it's not a week day. Wish I was home drinking some hot chocolate and watching some cartoons with the monkey

Yeah, dang snow....

Umm, anyone ever tried driving a golf cart in the snow? I am a bit bored and was wondering if I could actually do donuts or even a bit of drifting through the corners...

19 years working for the same PD finally pays off...rarely go out on the highway anymore and loving the banker's hours!!!  Sitting in the basement, fire is going nicely and watching my five year old play with his zombie pirates while the snow blows around like crazy outside.

I don't really mind the snow, its just the cold and the ice when I try to drive some where....

Pretty sure the fine Village of Riverview didn't even start their plow trucks up today....  Other than a few tire tracks, my block looks just like my yard...

Twice today, I did take the new Grizzly around the block a few times....  I didn't really get on it real hard as I didn't want to p!ss off the neighbors too much...

For the last several years my daily driver has been a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am.  Even with a brand new set of good tires, I still had problems getting out of my neighborhood and around certain areas of Jeff City when it snowed.

I was looking for a used Jeep Wrangler for a while (I had posted here a while back looking for some advice) and finally gave up.  People seem to be quite proud of their Wranglers...

I decided to look at other 4 wheel drive vehicles.  I found a guy on Craig's list that was selling a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2L V8 that was having electrical problems.  I looked at it a couple of times, convinced myself (and my wife) that I could fix it, shot the guy an offer, and had it towed home so I could work on it.  This was at the end of October.  My goal was to have it running by first snow.

Mission accomplished!

It took me two and a half weeks, but I finally got it running.  It's been my daily driver ever since.

Since it snowed the other night, I've been going out of my way to hit areas I would have avoided in my car.  Granted, it's not like we got 3 feet of snow or anything, but so far I'm happy.

And as an extra bonus, every time I stomp on the gas and hear the 5.2L V8 under the hood, I feel at peace with myself knowing that somewhere a hippy is crying.

Ok, just in case you were curious it is possible to power slide a golf cart on ice. Traction (a few hundred pounds of batteries helps out here) makes it impossible to spin the tires in snow, ice allows a bit of slip but not much.
And yes, it is damn cold powersliding on ice/snow when it is 20* outside...

Forget about the snow. Flock the ice. Dam shit is sneaky too if you dont watch it well. And even then there is this Black Ice crap.
