Playing the devil's advocate....why not? I think I read the same article...point was that more crimes could potentially be solved. What's the downside?

No front plate is or will be required in the present or future for us here ever again. Only special issue plates come in sets so they can  be ,,,if owner wants to attach it.
It is a cost thing.... twice the price to make them ya know 2 instead of one. The saying two plates will cut crime is phooey, 25 years in the busines and 14 of them on a motor said this.

We need tracking chips placed in all citizens here.  Will help solve crimes.

Can't leave your home except to work or shop at the mercado- and you need papers to prove it.

That may be the "official" line but I can guarandamntee you that it really has something to do with revenue collection.
And anyway, how many crimes have gone unsolved because the suspect didn't have a front plate ?
It's bullshit with an ulterior motive.

Front plates would only solve crimes where they are stupid enough to a: use their own vehicle instead of steeling one and b: not steel a plate off of a like make/model for the commission of said crime.

But then again, there are plenty of stupid criminals.
It is part of why they are criminals in the first place.

I'm not all excited about front plates; Don't want them myself.
But they do in fact help solve some crimes.

Back in Colorado, many a front plate has been left at hit and run accidents, some involving fatal accidents, and the run vehicle and driver were tracked down.

I'm sure the same goes for all states requiring a front plate.

Again, I don't want them here, and I don't think they will come back.

Front plates are stupid, besides, my Jeep doesn't even have the fucking brackets on the front of it anymore to even put one on it. What would I do, tape the thing on there with electrical tape?

Tell me what crimes could be solved with a front license plate?

Wouldnt logic dictate that if the vehicle is moving and you can read the front plate, the vehicle will eventually pass or turn and show you the rear plate?  Yes maybe in those rare cases where the bad guys make a tactical escape and evasion manuever by driving in reverse a front plate might help.  But how many freeway chases do you see where the guy drives in reverse just to hide his plate?

Remember that the left (and many times the right, okay well any politician) uses your emotions to sell something they want passed.  Require front license plates------->solve MORE crime!!  But how?  It sounds good but it is complete BS.

Shit I don't know, I didn't claim crimes would be solved with a front plate. I said it's fucking stupid.

No worries...I'll answer, since he was quoting me. And remember guys, I said that I was playing the devils advocate. I personally think that one man is using anothers well-intentioned idea for profit (meaning that $$$ is behind the whole deal). Now, to answer "what crimes would be solved" -

The original article suggested that people witnessing an incident involving suspects with a vehicle stood a better chance of providing police with information if there was more opportunity to get identifying information (hence a front plate). As for "how many crimes have been solved because of front plates" - well plenty. I can think of a hit and run where the front plate left a perfect reverse copy of itself on the dead persons leg. I can think of a case where video surveillance caught the front plate of the get-away car.

All arguments are valid; "Bad guys can switch plates", "Bad guys can steal plates", "It's just the man trying to photograph me speeding", "They just want my money" - none of this can be refuted. But remember..."we the people" do not vote in the demographics that will prevent this from happening should it come to that.

When it comes down to it, most people will overwhelmingly fork out more cash when their safety is questioned.

Look, having more than one Plate on my vehicle confuses the issue! First of all, when I commit my next phelony I don't want the hassle of swapping 2 plates. What a Pain in the ass that would be! Not only that, I really don't think I have the right tools to add another plate to my car.

I know, I'm being a smart ass. he
Big Brother IS watchin and we're not nearly paranoid enough! anyway, I sure hope my personalized plate get's here soon... It says "1IZENUF"!!!h.gif

Yes, the tracking chip should come in suppository form and placed in us buy a police man with the largest.......

The front plate is for revenue.

We easily solved the hit and run where a guy ran into my neighbors wall with a front plate

Course he left his whole front bumper assembly there at the time.

I made the 911 call, "Did you get his license number and vehicle description?""  Hell, I got more then the number, I got his whole plate and bumper."

You sure you guys aren't harboring a few lost Aggies?  Everybody knows you can use chewing gum to stick the plates back on.

AZ does not have a burgeoning crime problem, just the usual (exept for maybe the fuckin illegals)-even that's becoming the usual.

Damn the front plates, hated them when I had to wear them in Commiefornia.
