If anyone is even interested in gathering up some people for a mini AR15.com shoot please post here
I usually go to blow off steam after work to Ft Dix Range 14 to shoot a few bad water jugs and targets
the more reactive the better
plus XM193 is the flash hiders nightmare
any interest? those interested should bring very FLASHY ammo
I found XM193 does great and can be seen on all lanes there...
I need to know what 7.62x39 does the same for my AK oops SAR1

Sorry Rob(FMJunkie) if it stomps on the saturday shoots but school is hurting my weekend playtime now....Maybe we can plan that night shoot we were talking about

it is supposed to close 8pm and they called it closed at 7;20PM ish this past friday

The range closes at 9 on Wednesdays and 8 on Fridays. However, depending on the crowd and the mood of the RO, they sometimes call the last cease-fire a half-hour early to make sure that they can CLOSE by 8 or 9.

And, this time of year is great because its getting darker earlier but its still not bitter cold. Very fun and interesting shooting at dusk and night...

I'd be up to go. Problem is I usually get home from work too late unless I cut out early, which I can do every now and then. I suspect a lot of folks are in this same boat. You'd probably have better luck trying to plan a one-time thing. Pick a Friday night in the next couple of weeks (like, 10/17 at 5 or 6pm) and let people plan to leave work early...

I'd be willing to meet you guys on 10/17 for a Mini-Blast. Last weekend I was shooting up some old PMC that makes a nice big flash in sunlight. I think I still have some left over. I'm also curious to see what the flash looks like from an AR-10 with a 16" barrel. I guess we'll find out soon enough...

I would like to come down to see this if it's gonna happen.

I just joined the site last night cause i'm looking to build a rifle soon.

I'm a former 0351(Assaultman) and Security Forces Marine so the M16 and M4 platform are nothing new to me, but since i've been out my finger has been getting a little, shall we say....., itchy.

I'd like to get some eyes on some of the "kit" versions so I can make a good purchase if you guys don't mind me showin' up.

you should plan on going to the pumpkin shoot too?
I will be in a little red honda civic hatchback
look for the big muzzle flash

Welcome to the board, Feuerdog.If yor Rifle isn't complete by 11/8 aka The Great Pumpkin Shoot, there are plenty of them to go around at our gatherings and many variations.

I'd like to thank zbrane for letting me check out his AR and Kimber the other night, and for putting up with my questions and comments.

I'll definately be using the Fort Dix range in the future for my pistol practice and rifle work.

We even got to check out an SAR(?) AK47 that another guy down there was plinking with.

The weather was fine, and the range was dry, but a little breezy, no biggee.

I'm sure i'll see some more of you guys at the Pumkin shoot.

its all timing... I had the guys do a round of 'fast as you can' rapid fire and took three or four pics. Just happened to catch it right!

Hey, nobody was there Friday, Antonio and I had the whole place to ourselves. Rain held off until the end. I took some avi movies with a small digital camera. Looks pretty cool on the small camera screen. If anyone wants to see or host them, let me know.

Zbrane and I had a great time blasting pumpkins yesterday. They make a very nice reactive target. Sometimes a bullet will just make a small entry hole; sometimes chunks are sent flying 10 feet in the air. I plan on bringing a bunch of TAP ammo & pumpkins to the next NJ Blast.

small hole in the top of the pumpkin
fill with water
use tap polymer tip ammo
Hornady TAP ammo
explodes good

I was there Sunday afternoon...a million hunters in camo there
it was weird
they take one shot every 10 minutes...
No offense however to any of them or anyone here...
there were some big bore muzzleloaders there.
I think I kinda pissed a few off as I would rapid fire almost every single time
or do 2-3 round burst fires and an occasional 15 round blast.
plus the SAR1 would chuck empties onto the next guy in the lane next to me
