The Come and Take it flag on the Facebook page is a replica of the Gonzalez flag of the Texas Revolution in 1835-1836. The Mexicans had given the settlers of the town of Gonzalez ( east of San Antonio) a cannon for defense against Indians. When Texans decided they wanted independence the Mexican Army sent a detachment to take back the cannon. Well..they didn't succeed. It was the first skirmish of the Texas Revolution, which we eventually won. A fitting symbol of freedom indeed!

Thank you for putting Newburgh out of our area! I doubt the rest of Orange County will appreciate it, though.
Maybe we should not divide it based on county? Like give NY a strip of the Hudson River bed a few feet wide running up to Albany and include the city in their Evil Empire State. |
