I asked this in the fire cracker thread but got zilch...Would a fire cracker inside a film canister full of tannerite go boom? The 4th is getting close.

My understanding it no, it would not detonate. Remember at the last shoot when we were shooting the Tannerite with .308s and other projectiles and they would not detonate. To explode it must be hit by something traveling at a certain velocity.
Truth is, I don’t have an explanation for it. I just like to follow you around the board and post on your threads. It ensures my post count will always be higher than yours. Okay, the real truth is I’d like to have a scientific explanation of why it would or would not work. By posting on this thread I will be notified when (if) someone better educated than you and me gives us the answer. I admit it. I’m stupid. |
Hey now...I am asking a serious question...wait...I am seriously asking a question. Yeah, the second one.
When I blow my arm off trying this, you will all be sorry. See, I will type a lot slower then. ByteTheBullet (-: |

I think talking about “blowing off appendages” violates the board code.
Would that only apply to blowing off other peoples appendages?!?
ByteTheBullet (-: |
I wont hurt to try! |
Hmmmm, now that you mention it. Should I use my right or left arm. Decisions, decisions.
AND if you send an email to HoldMyBeerAndWatchThis********** you just might get a smartassed reply from me. Well, if I feel like it. ByteTheBullet (-: edited to hide email since no one had the BALLS to try it...heehee. IM me and I will reveal it. |
Don't lie. We all know you don't know how to use a computer, much less send an e-mail.
What is this Com-poo-tore thing you speak of?
ByteTheBullet (-: |
you guys shot Tannerite with .308's and it didn't detonate???? HUH? |
Someone else will need to field this one. I don't got a .308. They were spreading that rumor though. It easily could have been the Tannerite mix though. I few of us hadn't used it before.

Gee-odddd.
Tannerite's 'detonator component' is, I think, friction-based. That's why it triggers from the high-vel cartridges. So, ifn you taped a .177 pellet to the firecrackers, ---maybe--- it'd activate it. Have the neighbor kid test this out for you. |
How about BB's? I've got BB's. I can get fire crackers in Florida. The neighbor kids don't like me, they hide behind trees and yell 'Hey mister white man'.
So a fire cracker exploding doesn't cause friction? ByteTheBullet (-: |
Regarding Tannerite and the .308s. Byte is right; it might have been the mix. We did have several “duds” in the group. So, has someone ever shot Tannerite with anything other than a 5.56 and have success?

Don't be so hard on yourself, BookHound. ByteTheBullet (-: |

I shot it with 7.62x54R and set one off, mainly because some money-dropping loser next to me was as blind as a Helen Keller and about as good at following spoken instruction. |

Hey, screw you asshole. That damn BLOWME or CETME or whatever the hell it was Delta was shooting brought back my flinch. At one point I was shaking so badly, Bradd thought I was having a seizure so he threw me down on the ground and stuffed a spoon in my mouth. And you expect me to hit a film canister after that? Whatever. |
You said hard on. |
Sure, blame it on the CETME's muzzlebreak. How many times do we have to hear that one, oh sluglord of the "Can you hear me now" FAL?
You weren't even getting showered with burning powder. Wimp. |
Then he must not have been talking about you! |
Dude, that was no spoon!(sorry Bradd_D) ByteTheBullet (-: edited fer syntax |
I don't want to know anything about anyone else blowing off each other's appendages...

Ok, so let me get this right...

Another note to self...pay with cash...do NOT keep receipts. Oh yeah, buy rubber gloves.

This is getting complicated. My head is starting to hurt. The voices are shouting, trying to drown out each other... ByteTheBullet (-: |

Pop about a dozen Prozac before you head out. That helps calm the nerves. And no one will notice, either.
Fresh outta prozac...note to... ByteTheBullet (-: |

I won't have decent internet access through the weekend. Whew, I haven't laffed like this in a while. Thanks to everybody who played along at home and work, you will recieve your parting gifts at the door. And don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. ByteTheBullet (-: |
