A few years back, I traded my RIA full size 1911 for a '91 Yamaha Virago. Since then, I have gotten rid of the Yamaha in exchange for an american made steel motorcycle and I've been missing my Philipino made 1911. Well, last night, I talked my buddy into selling it back to me, so it's sitting here now, back where it belongs.

Who was it that completely refinished their RIA 1911? Looks like that may be a viable choice, this thing has got ALOT of surface rust. |

I can help you with sand blasting & I can set you up to Gun-Kote with an air brush it if you want to go that route.

You may also want to consider hard chrome, it doesnt have to be bright and flashy. If you do get it chromed you shouldnt have to worry about it ever again. I'm getting ready to send a pistol off to tripp in about a week.

In my opinion...there's no one better than Virgil when it comes to hardchroming. Hardchrome, while wear resistant, is not the most corrosion resistant finish (however it is pretty damn good). I believe nickel has that honor. Nickel is considerably softer than hardchrome. |
