MARYSVILLE, Ohio — People in Marysville may hear or see fighter jets in the sky Wednesday morning.

The 180th Fighter Wing (180FW) of the Ohio Air National Guard says the wing will be conducting a test of the Aerospace Control Alert system between 8-10:30 a.m.

People around Marysville and western Ohio could see F-16 Fighting Falcons in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft. The aircraft will be taking on the role of a Track of Interest (TOI) aircraft. A TOI is an aircraft that has been identified as a potential threat.

Other areas where the jets could be seen are Dayton, Middletown, and Springfield.

The purpose of the exercise is to practice coordination between the Eastern Air Defense Sector, the Federal Aviation Administration and 180FW.

These kinds of exercises happen on a routine basis as part of North American Aerospace Defense Command’s Operation Noble Eagle, which was put in place after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Even though the scheduled exercise is set for Wednesday morning, it could be relocated, delayed or canceled due to inclement weather.

Enjoy the show boys.  I miss watching the lawn darts.  Spent 4+ years on an F-16 base.  We used to go out on perimeter road, lay on the hoods of our cars at EOR and watch the launch full burner in nights ops.  Saw it over 1000 times, and would still watch it again.  For about 10 years I volunteered at the Cleveland Air show.  Enjoyed seeing the same show 3 days in a row year after year.  Pretty much only see 130's and C5's in my AO now.  But once a year or so, I hear that GE110.

They were going balls to the wall down near Paint Creek over the weekend.
It was awesome. One was inverted going in a straight line like his hair was in fire.  Did not see any international relations though.

Maybe that was the source of loud air traffic over my office in Huber Heights.

Used to love it when the C17s would come in 4 engines smoking  full speed so low they were sucking the grasshoppers  off the  crops.

Well, cool at 4:00pm.

Not so much at 3:00am, but I would love to see more of that again.

Seems like the Blackhawks and Chinoks were flying around this morning over Columbus.

Just flew over a little bit ago. I know it's a month late. Maybe some SHTF?

@bdover if it was between 8:30 and 10:30am, didn’t hear or see anything. Probably weren’t in the area.

c130's rip through here really low. Haven't heard fighter jets
around here since a kid back in the late 80's/early 90s buzzed his
parents house. Or so I was told. Toledo area used to see fighters
almost daily
