Where are you going to locate in the valley?  Practically anywhere you go, with the possible exception of Lexington, is going to be a big change from the People's Republic of Charlottesville where the inmates rule the asylum.

Lexington and Charlottesville are similiar in that they are college towns.  UVA in Charlottesville.  Washington & Lee and VMI in Lexington.  The cultural amenities are great, but a lot of the college professors are warmed over socialists.

Thanks for the welcome:)I am looking to buy around Greenville,Staunton or a little further west.UVA is full of leftist snobs.People in the valley are so much nicer. As far as northern Va, been there, done that.It truly is it's own world.

Churchville, west of Staunton.
Ft. Defiance, north of Staunton.
Stuarts Draft, southeast of Staunton.

All are beautiful places if you want to get some acres in a rural area.  There are tons of places to shoot and a local population that accepts hunting and shooting.

I lived in the city of Staunton for 6 years, but was never too crazy about it.  The town was just too small.

Welcome!

Living in Centreville now (NoVA), but originally from Galax (south western part).

Nice to visit the parents once in a while and live among nice people.

Good luck on your move!

Howdy!  I live in c-ville myself.  Any college town is full of idiots, and Charlottesville's no different.  Actually, UVA has a rep as a conservative college; it could be a lot worse.

Anywhere in the valley is beautiful.  I'm originally from Front Royal myself.

I'd be happy to go run some rounds sometime.

Hi, CH'ville aint that bad... I have been in the area for over 18 yrs. I live in Louisa County, but work in ch'ville. I do agree the Valley is a beautiful area. You need to join the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol club. Meet some great people that enjoy the same things you do, guns and shooting!
