I want to do a .22lr build and I think I'm going to put a 5'' fake suppressor on the barrel for the tacticoolness. If I have this permanately attached does it count as being part of the barrel? So if I buy an 11'' barrel I'd be good to go?

If whatever you add to a barrel is permanately attached it counts twards the overall length. A 5" fake can on a 11" barrel means 16" of legality.

BATFE standard for measuring a barrel length is to close the bolt, then drop a rod down the bore and mark it at the top, remove and measure.
If it's on there when measured, that's the length.

And the Tacticoolness of a fake suppressor is debatable. I liken it to a scope with no lenses.

It's just going to be for the indoor range so it's tacticoolness exposure will be limited. It might get seen by the occassional mall ninja at the range and that's about it.
