I was curious if anyone knew how long they'd be around. I'd like to take my son out to see them.

last I heard one of them was damaged or something I think... They've been around for awhile so I don't think they'll be here much longer.

They've been flying over the house since last week.
Caught this one coming in this evening. I wish I had gotten out there ealrier and had some better/more light to work with.
I believe it's an F-15SG, Republic of Singapore 428th FS "Buccaneers" based at Mountain Home AFB.

I use to park out by Luke AF base and sit right under the F-16's as they would land. I never knew you could hear the noisy hydraulics as they were flying right over your head but man those hydraulics were noisy when there moving the controls. Pretty cool to watch.

Anyone know how long they're here for?
They seem to be flying late afternoon and nights. Makes it hard to get any decent pics.

I was watching the new 1 star on the Peoria channel briefing the city fathers. He said that LAFB was "first alternate"
or something to that effect for the F35.

He also said LAFB at one time has 10 squadrons on F16s and are now down to 6, and will be losing 2 soon.

Some interesting stats on how LAFB has trained something like 80% of all Viper drivers and 50% of ALL US fighter pilots worldwide.

Has more F16s at Luke than in all of Europe.

Luke AFB is a "prefered" base at this point in time, nothing about "first alternate" has been oficially announced AFAIK.
Luke AFB trains just over 400 pilots and 600 crew chiefs annually
When we had 10 squadrons of F16's we where unoficially known as the worlds second largest air force.
Luke AFB drops more convitional munitions (bombs and bullets) than every base in PACAF and USAFE combined.
Luke AFB is currently slated to transfer 2 squadrons of F-16's to New Mexico, but they will still remain part of the 56th FW, just at another location, and as of right now we have 138 F-16's valued at over $3.5 billion without support equipment.

Basically, if I was a betting man, I would place all my chips on Luke AFB getting the F-35.

Forth attempt to edit.......Anyone know how to make this work?  Thought I followed the instructions, both ways.

The link is not hot, but can be pasted in the browser as the url.

That is not OPSEC, it's part of the public, jrotc, and private tours given and is therefor public knowledge.

I heard Mountain Home AFB was in the running to host the Saudi's and their new F-15SA's. Doesn anyone know if Luke might also be in the running for this?

Negative. While Luke AFB did host F15's for awhile, I do believe they were transfered due to noise complaints. This was also before people living close to the base were required to sign a paper stating that they new Luke AFB was close by and the overall noise level would be louder because of such..
