Terrible tragedy. And 11 years to the day after the 7 kids on the bus got killed in the same spot. This is just minutes from my home. Still can't believe it.............

Wow this is the first I have heard of this. This is pretty close to my house too. I'm really sorry to hear this, this is an awful tragedy. They are in my prayers.

I heard tha call last night at work. My partner was at the train v bus crash and last nights call brought back many emotions.

I was 10 when the first crash happened, lived in barrington at the time.
Even being that young, I will NEVER forget it. Shame to hear the bad news. Prayers sent. |

, My eyes leak , when I read stuff like this. Gonna give my little one a hug , and offer prayers,. keep hugging your children . My neighbors kid died two years ago, this weekend coming up. My wife used to baby sit him. |

My FIL used to run this route and that is a dangerous crossing, but so is every RR crossing. Folks heed my warning, you need to really talk to your kids about RR crossings I don't care how old or young they are. You should never let them play near, or cross them without adult supervision. My father has been an engineer with the RR for over 25 years and has explained this to me many many times, and always get a refresher when he hits someone.
The biggest mistake people make when it comes to crossing RR tracks is waiting for the train to pass then run accross. In this situation there was more then two tracks and the other train blocked the view of the next train comming. Here is a REAL LIFE EXAMPLE of what happens when you ignore the horns and the signals. Ive gotten a more clear story,the metra to the left ,was stopped.the metra to the rite the kid didnt see,50-70mph. you would think trains would at least slow down thru ther,especially on the day a tragedy occured 11yrs before.
