With the passage out of committee of Senator Marsh's gun show bill, SB 1257, the assault on gun owners seems to have begun in earnest.  As pointed out in the previous thread(s) on this, everyone needs to write, email, and/or call their (supposed) representatives.

But, that's not enough anymore.  We need to make our presence felt.

There were three representatives who changed their votes.  Each of these three were supposedly friendly to the RKBA community, and would have gleaned many votes from gun owners because of this.  They have betrayed the trust of the community.

My suggestion:  We pick ONE of those three, and begin working actively for their defeat in the next cycle.  We start right now and and we do it loudly.  In Virginia, we have the NRA and the VCDL to use for support.  We have the AR15 HTF.  Most of us belong to other forums as well (I belong to Brian Enos, Glocktalk, and Tidal Fish).  Others of you will belong to some other sympathetic organizations - fishing, hunting, church, sports, etc.  Get started now, and make some noise.

Apparently, Quayle won 59% - 41%.  Deeds and Norment ran unopposed.

Neither of these three are particularly well known to me, so I don't know which one of them might be the easiest to unseat.   Anyone who might have some insight on this, please respond ASAP.

If we can get organized quickly, and make it obvious what we are doing, perhaps we can get the attention of some of these so-called public servants, and prevent this bill (and similar ones) from passing.

There HAS to be a cost to these people for their actions.

I believe Deeds is running for Governor in the next election.

Then he needs to know that he just lost a core constituency.

He's already been e-mailed by me.  I'm going to wait and see how he votes on this bill now.

I really think waiting is the wrong response.  At that point, at least some level of damage is done.

I see that I'm not getting much in the way of responses here.  Do people not care, or am I not the VA HTF approved messenger?!

So what else should I do?  I've e-mailed him to explain how I'm upset with him, and that I urge him to change his vote in the senate.  So now I wait and see if he either responds to my e-mail, or wait 'til Thursday to see how he votes on the bill.

What am I missing?

I'm not suggesting that you are missing anything.

I'm basically ranting that I'm really fed up with our elected "leaders", and I was suggesting that it's time to get their attention.  Right now, emailing, calling, and writing doesn't seem to be getting their attention.  Costing one or several of them their jobs would get the attention of at least some of the others.

Waiting to see how they vote before starting the campaign(s) against them means that they will act as they see fit right now, which is not in our favor.  Starting an active movement, right away, to remove them from their position might make them hesitate.

Mr. Quayle is my Senator, and I sent him two emails yesterday expressing my disappointment.  Now it's up to him to fix himself.  I did close my emails stating how my wife and I had voted for him in the past, but we would have to reconsider our support in the future if he maintains a position of supporting gun control measures.  Let's see if he cares about losing 2 voters.
