There are primaries coming up, what is a general list of the most KBA supportive candidates around Illinois?
It would be nice to be able to find a site with a rundown of who supports us best.
i think icarry.org is supporting Brady
Oberweis had a flyer at Mega Sports that said he supported RKBA and concealed carry.
I would love ot support Brady since he's my hometown canidate. He's a decent man and supports RKBA But I'm afraid he doesn't have the state wide appeal to to beat Topinka.
Topinka is the worst of the lot. She can beat Blago but that bitch is as anti-gun as King George ,just as corrupt and is a RINO.
I like Oberweis, Think he is our best chance at finally getting a pro-gun Gov. in office. He also has a very good chance of beating Blago. I'll be supporting him.
We finally have chance to get a truelly pro-gun Gov. this time if we can just keep Judy from winning the primary.
Every marginal Republican should be called and reminded how in the mid-90's the support of gun owners was the force for the federal congress takeover from the communists. They should also be reminded that the Republican party has traditionally stood for less government and more rights. Gun owners help turn the tide for Bush in 2000 and 2004, and helped pick up seats in the senate in 2004. They need to be reminded of these points this election, and to be asked where they stand on the gun grab bill. McAuliffe, Philos, Bellock to name a few Margrepublicans. Perhaps a call to that Republican broad from Glenview, is in order. Can't think of her name right now
You guys and gals know that when a candidate stretches themselves too far from the core voter base they don't win, topinka may be too radical for general republican base???
What are oberweis and brady all about? Could they appeal to the broad majority of Repubs?
I saw judyforgov.com and it had nothing about gun rights. ???
What are your thoughts?
Oberweis is pro RKBA and pro CCW.
Brady supports federal AWB but not HB2414. Also pro CCW.
Topinka is a RINO, so it's appears she could care less about the people that want their RKBA.
Both ICarry and ISRA have endorsed Brady. Oberweis may have the talk and the money, but IMHO that's all he is. Don't be fooled by lofty promises.
As I mentioned in the other thread, Brady has a far better chance of beating Blago in the general. Oberweis can't win a general election. He's just a businessman. Zero legislative experience.
Brady has almost 14 years in the legislator and has been our ally that entire time (to the best of my knowledge). Take him seriously. If we all back him now and support him, there's no reason we couldn't see him through the primary. He's been steadily gaining every since the beginning. I'm seeing yard signs all over the place in my hometown of Rockford. But anyways...
I spend nearly all my free time in the politics of guns in this state. I wouldn't be backing this guy if he weren't the real deal. I'm willing to put my nuts on the line for him in hope that he'll win. Hell he introduced a bill to repeal the FOID recently. I don't think I could possibly like him anymore :)
Soooo you have a choice between two people
*almost 14 years experience as a state legislator
*proven perfect voting record on guns
*proven voting record on lowering taxes and cutting gov't fat
*hasn't changed his stance on any issues that I know of
*endorsed by ICarry in January
*endorsed by ISRA in February
*3? failed attempts at public office
*zero years in public service
*no voting record, only mere promises
*in 2004 supported clinton "assault-weapons" ban/now denies this statement and claims to support guns
*same for abortion
*wanted Kathy Salvi (wife of anti-gun turncoat Al Salvi
Here's a reply I gave to an email inquiry not too long ago:
Topinka: None of us really trust her, especially since she’s moderate. She would be infinitely better than Rod, and if she winds up being the Republican challenger, we will support her. However, we’re trying our best to see that a better challenger wins the primary.
Gidwitz: He’s a tool and a buddy of Daley. He’s a gun-banner, no doubt about it. Luckily the jerk has no chance at this election. He’ll be done soon
Oberweis: Seems like a good guy, and a very staunch and out-spoken supporter of gun rights. The only problem is he has zero legislative experience. We can’t see a voting record or anything on him. He has more name recognition than Brady, but still has zero credibility since we don’t have a voting record on him. Add that in 2004 he said he supported a ban on “assault weapons”, and his choice of Kathy Salvi for Lt. Gov. (we really really really hate her husband, Al Salvi…he’s an infamous turncoat who published an essay called “Why I Was Wrong About Guns” basically saying how he didn’t get voted in because he supported guns…that’s easy enough to fix, he just flipped his stance and slapped us in the face while he did it!!). Then there’s the fact that Oberweis flip-flopped on abortion. I lost a lot of faith in him at this point. He seems to me as someone who will say what he needs to get the votes…but what happens after he’s in office? Will he now change his stance to secure even more votes for re-election?
Brady: Over a decade in a General Assembly in IL. His voting record is pretty much flawless when it comes to gun (that is, as good as any other Republican). He supports concealed carry, and many many other gun rights reforms (including the repeal of the FOID Act…he introduced a bill for this). He seems like a sincere guy, and I trust him as much as I will allow myself to trust a politician. He’s been our ally for many years, and will continue to be. We know he’s the real deal – he’s proved it. I hope as many gun owners as possible will back him.
And Brady does NOT and has NEVER supported the expired ban on semi-automatic weapons. That's a rumor that was started because of his statement saying he supported the ban on fully-automatic weapons (the defacto ban graciously bestowed upon us by the National Firearms Act of 1934). Oberweis is the one that said he supported the renewal of Clinton's "assault-weapons" ban
I need to start reading up on Brady, he may be the guy.
I wish I would have given you guys all this info earlier. I've been pretty busy with college, work, and ICarry. We've been sending out tons of email newsletters and stuff like that on Brady.
Check out our site if you want more info on him and why he IS the guy! Be sure to sign up to get our newsletter and get involved in the forums too.
ICarry is evolving right now. We will soon be the only state-wide grassroots organization. It's going to big -- now is a good time to get involved.

Ok, if Brady really is a "2nd amendment man", he is getting my vote.
I cant support anyone that wants more socialism - Oberweis openly supports attacking the health care industry (specifically pharma companies such as Abbott Labs in Chicago) and getting drugs from Canada. The LIBERTARIAN in me says STAY AWAY.
Havent heard any other Republican's position but I know socialism is NOT in my blood. My father escaped communism in the 1950's only to come to America and find people actively promoting it's "virtues" here.
Too bad the Libertarians dont have a stronger showing in Illinois.
SAK makes some excellent points. I fear that Oberweis may have more of a war chest than Brady though from selling milk.
I have yet to make a final decision. Either Brady or Oberweis for sure.
I'm with ya man. Unfortunately you will find even AR15.com members unkowingly supporting Socialism.
Not that we shoud or shouldn't get drugs from Canada, but we in the US pay ALL the R&D costs for new drugs and that is why drugs are so expensive. Litigation is obviously another reason. I don't think people are aware of the rigorous testing guidlines the FDA puts on the development of a new drug, I know all to well as my closest family member works in the medical field, partially R&D. Export R&D costs, not free drugs is what I say. If Oberweis is too ignorant to grasp this theory, I won't vote for him. If he does know all this, and being a successful businessman, I am sure he does, he is play politics. As they say, wolves in sheep's clothing.
God bless your Father and his courage my friend.
+1 for Brady!
