What are the politics like in Durango, CO, and for the rest of the state for that matter? What are the gun laws, concealed carry laws, and hunting laws like? Any real possibilities of outlawing semi-automatics like the AR-15, like they do in CA? When my wife and I moved from OR to CA in 2002, I had to leave my AR-15 in OR. I'm tired of ridiculous gun laws.

I grew up on a 120 acre ranch just outside of Yreka, CA in Siskiyou County. The area is very rural and for the most part, conservative. My wife and I currently live in Southern California, but just sold our house on October 20th. We will be renting until the beginning of the summer, at which time we will move out of this state, once and for all. Between now and then, I need to get licensed for work in whatever state we choose.

We checked out Boise last October, but I got cold feet as I am self-employed as an electrical contractor. We've realized we really need to move out of CA, but my wife mentioned Durango. I know I'd love to live in ID, but am unsure about CO, hence the questions mentioned above. I've hunted there 16 years ago when I was 17, but that's the only experience I have with the state. When I was in college in 1994, I thought that I'd like to move to Durango, as I was, and continue to mountain bike often. However, I'm also a hunter and a strong advocate of the 2nd amendment.

Thank you for the information.
