If you arent watching the Boise State-Oklahoma game you are missing one of the best games ive seen in a long time....

with 1:20 left Oklahoma scored to make 28-26

they needed 3 tries to get the 2 point conversion because the first 2 were overturned for penalties 28-28

Boise State got the ball and immediately threw an interception that was returned for a td

35-28 Oklahoma

then, on 4th and 19 from near the 50 with under 20 seconds left, BSU ran the hook and ladder and scored to make it 35-35 with 7 seconds left...

Oklahoma just scored easily in OT first, so perhaps this one is done soon, but dizzzamn! what a game!

holy crap

so after oklahoma scores in overtime boise gets down to the 4

4th and 2

they have to score a TD

so what do they do?

well why not run our star qb in motion, direct snap it to our backup, and have him throw into the end zone to the tight end?  well sure!

and then, if that wasnt enough, instead of going for the tie, they ran the statue of liberty play for a two point conversion, got it, and won

this is the most fun ive had watching football in a long, long time...

of course, i am a redskins fan....so this isnt TOO surprising

I have to agree, it was one of the best (action pack I guess) games I've seen in many moons.

Sweet!  Awesome description, I felt like I was there

But I gotta say... it's hook and lateral

No, it really is hook and ladder:  Linky

That said...  holy crap, best game I've seen for a looooooooong time, possibly ever.  Hell of an underdog story, I wanna see Ohio State get beat by Boise State in a playoff.

That coach has some stones.  big time.

'Nother linky

I guess it's both?

And from NFL.com regarding the Eagles TD this year:

"It was a hook-and-lateral all the way. I'm sticking to my story," Brown said with a smile before admitting he lost control of the ball. "I guess I didn't have it secure."

NFL.com link

And also from NFL.com, Hook and Ladder 'splained

Hm... maybe hook and lateral, and hook and ladder are totally different things?

they are the same thing...at least to me...

i would guess that the ladder is slang for lateral...

the play does involve the reception of the ball by one player who then laterals it to another player

generally the receiving player is stopped and pitches it to another player who is running...

my senior year in high school we won our third game of the season with that play (Thomas Jefferson at Washington and Lee, 1990, I was the left tackle ;))

it is also featured in the movie Varsity Blues

I think one of the reasons it worked so well last night is the original receiver moved laterally acrossed the field and pitched it to another player moving in the opposite direction...kind of like one leg of the X pitching the ball at the intersection to someone on the other leg of the X....

the entire defense had moved to follow the man with the ball and, as such, were unable to adjust to chase someone moving in the other direction....
