I know they allow pretty powerfull stuff. But I have never seen a 45-70 govt there. Their website just says up to .460 Weatherby Magnum. So I am assuming 45-70 is okay.

Yes you can shoot a .45-70 there.
You can shoot up to 460 Weatherby Magnum, you can shoot shotguns but slugs only.
No steel core or tracer ammo, or blackpowder firearms.

You can also shoot blackpowder rifles at the CF Phelps range in Remington VA.

Isaak Walton league has a monthly black powder turkey shoot on the 3rd sunday of each month. LOTS of smoke poles out there on those mornings.

Alexandria chapter IWLA has a range in Stafford. Blackpowder is alright by us. IM me if you want more details. I can bring guests in for a "trial run"
