Legally.  

Actually you can own both silencers and MGs, if you have the $$$ and desire.  

There seems to be no prohibition, but I still wouldn't get near Chicago.

The AWB sunset of course does not include SBR (less than 16") or "automatic" firearms, but it is curious that many ar15 suppliers are sitting right here in the Northern half of the People's republic of Illinois.

If any state will come up with a new ban, this is going to be it.

5 miles down the road a good friend sub-manufactures prolly the best and certainly the most exotic suppressor. We can't even "test" them here.

Hey Doc,

The law concerning suppressors in IL for SOT's changed this past year.  It's in the same section of the ILCS that deals with all the other firearms related stuff.  An SOT (and a manufacturer with an SOT to be sure) can have suppressors the same as machine guns now in IL.
