Not sure when this was made available online, but you don't have to worry about printing, filling and mailing the form any more.  If you're registered to vote in Virginia, simply fill out the online form and the ballot will be sent to you via mail.

Unfortunately, you have to have a reason to vote absentee, although those reasons are pretty generous.  We have a lot of members in the military, in college, work police/fire/EMS, and that travel for work so I thought this was worth posting here.

Reasons for voting absentee:

1A Student attending college or university outside of locality of residence in Virginia
1B Spouse of student attending college or university outside locality of residence in Virginia
1C Business outside County/City of residence on Election Day
1D Personal business or vacation outside County/City of residence on Election Day
1E I am working and commuting to/from home for 11 or more hours between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM on Election Day
1F I am a first responder (member of law enforcement, fire fighter, emergency technician, search and rescue)
2A My disability or illness
2B I am primarily and personally responsible for the care of a disabled/ill family member confined at home
2C My pregnancy
3A Confined, awaiting trial
3B Confined, convicted of a misdemeanor
4A An electoral board member, registrar, officer of election, or custodian of voting equipment
5A I have a religious obligation
6A Active Duty Merchant Marine or Armed Forces
6B Spouse or dependent living with a member of 6A
6C Temporarily residing outside of US
6D Temporarily residing outside of US for employment or spouse or dependent residing with employee
7A Requesting a ballot for presidential and vice-presidential electors only   Only eligible if you moved less than 30 days before the presidential election.
8A Authorized representative of candidate or party serving inside the polling place

Thanks just applied, I work in another county than invote in so I'm giving it a shot.

Say I vote early with the absentee ballot, and Hillary would die/drop out due to health reasons, and they change the ballot, would my absentee vote still be valid?

Not that I am voting Shillary, just the fact the the ballot would have changed from a  legal stand point.

How likely are the fraudsters to disqualify our absentee ballots?

With this areas commute, and work schedules being gone for 11 hrs is pretty easy.

I work four 10 hr days a week with an hour and a half commute each way.

I've been voting absentee or early voting for years.

My understanding is that you aren't voting for the person, you are voting for an elector.  Have a read:

I figure no more or less likely than when voting via the electronic machines.

Unfortunately?

There should be a valid reason you can't get your butt to the polls on election day and have to be mailed a absentee ballot.

The self-absorbed's concerns about "Mah Time" gets you, mail-in, a month of in-person early voting, and all the other voting scams that the Dems have foisted on states like CO to bring in more Dem votes.

Why give the Dems a month of weekends to fill up a bus at some church every Saturday and tote them to the polls?

No voter ID, early voting (non-absentee) and mail-in voting is tailor made for fraud.

There are a lot of decent, hard working people out there that can't vote in person due to other commitments.  The way the law is currently written requires you to know exactly what you will be doing weeks in advance of election day.  I don't know about you, but I've had jobs where I didn't know where I was going to be from one day to the next, what I would be doing, or what time I would be getting home.  These people can either assume (under penalty of law) that they will be unable to vote in person on election day, or chance it and miss voting.

I personally have missed several elections as I had no idea what I would be doing on election day and thought that I'd be sitting around in the office but I ended up on a site all damn day.  Add "I have a job that makes it so I have no way of knowing what I'm going to be doing in five minutes, much less weeks from now" as an option and I'll be happy.

VAfish get's it.......It's not that hard and does not take two paragraphs to explain why real or possible "commitments" were more important at the time than voting.

I voted by absentee ballot many a year when I knew (or there was a good possibility) I'd be away, working, etc on election day.
