Looking at DNR regs, you can hunt with a BP pisol as long as its not a revolver. Has anyone shot a deer with one? I'm looking for a winter hobby and I'm thinking about building a flintlock pistol.

...and before the comments start, I'm working on my own deer hunting grand slam. I've taken deer with 7.62x54R, 20 ga. and I'm using my BP rifle this year. If I get one this year, I'll still need to take a deer with a bow, cartridge pistol and BP pistol.

No idea. Assuming the accuracy is good, inside 30 yards should be a humane kill.

Give the deer a pistol too and you can have a duel!

Giving it a pistol would be easy. How do you suggest I get it to wear a cloak and top hat?

I thought there was an article about this online where a gunsmith made a custom muzzle loader flintlock pistol with a 14" barrel for a 58 or 72cal.

Can't remember what they were hunting, thought it was hog.

Yes, you can hunt with a BP pistol provided its not a revolver or breach loader during muzzle season.
