I tried streets of new york...but ... about $20 for a large pizza!? SERIOUSLY?

Almost twice what I would have paid when I lived in NJ. Does anyone know of any other decent pizzerias in the area that make good New York style pizza, at a more reasonable price?

North Phoenix area.

Rays pizza at 59th and greenway . Best Sicillian pizza in town. The 2 brothers that own the place learned from their father and know how to make a great pizza pie .

wow. Sorry to hear that! I have always liked their pizza and eat there a lot.
Also there is Lucky's pizza on 32nd and Union Hills - that has a NJ feel to the place. I got food poisoning from them once but family will still order from them.

My first job was as a busser there.  Half my teacher's from high school would come in and get sloshed in the bar.  It was awesome.  I could live on Red Devil white pizza, extra crispy.

... this thread made me craving pizza. Just got back from Ray's, but didn't see the "Abusive Pizza" on the menu. Settled for a "Monster" - and it's pretty good!

Grimaldi's is by far my favorite pizza joint in the valley! Did you know they actually have a water system that mimics the same water they use in NY. They have a few locations around the valley!

NYPD pizza is ok  and I will second that almost all the bashas pizza I've eaten from all over the valley is great. If ever interested in chicago style Rosati's is pretty good but you may have to take out a second mortgage. One of the best pizza's for the price I've eaten was at Noble Romans in Queen Creek, Az.

I've mentioned them before but will again for those that missed them in other threads - Casanova Brothers is really good, but a bit on the pricey side - ie: over $20 for some of their specialty pies.   I think probably the best value in good small non-chain pizza shop at a fair price is Nicantoni's in Chandler on the corner of Warner and McQueen.  You can get a large white there for around 12 bucks.   I've heard Salerno's is good for Chicago style, but have yet to try it so no idea what prices are like.  Also, a small chain around town that I know of that is pretty damn good is Spinato's - there's one in Tempe right near AGP  also one in Scottsdale and I think they have a Phoenix location.  They do a pretty kickass Sicilian style IMO.

Yeah, not on the menu... It is named as such, because of how they treat you when you order, at least the one in North Scottsdale. Kind of like the soup nazi of pizza.

Times Square Pizza, Deer Valley Rd. just west of I17.

They were better under the previous owner, but they're still pretty good.

And they are not posted "no firearms" ...

I was born and raised in NY, so I do have the background ...

Spinatos isn't really NYC style pizza I don't think, but it is freaking amazing pizza. For a nice, big, think slice I do slices from time to time too. Both are very good.
