For those that do not know, DFW dinners started in 2003. It was kicked around during a discussion at the Hun Farm. The first venue was Two Rows on Greenville with about 15-20 people in attendance. It has been going on for almost 3yrs now. The whole idea behind it is to get to know fellow shooters in the DFW area. Networking and build commraderie amongst everyone on the board.
Through the years we have had the dinners in various restaurants and cities throughout the metroplex. Some had great turn outs, some not so great. We've skipped months. Hence the purpose of this post. Membership has changed and I would like to know roughly where everyone is in the metroplex so that we(or I) can plan dinners closer to people as the year progress. Also if you would like to suggest a restaurant in your area. Nothing fancy. Prefer casual dining. Something between $10.00 to $20.00 a plate for dinner. Poll coming up. Sorry coudn't include S of Dallas on the poll. Only five choices. |
Looks Like the Poll Function is still FUBAR.
I am in Canton. I have bitched and moaned enough about the locations. TRG |
If you want a DFW dinner in Canton you gonna have to host it. OK we'll have something in Mesquite. How's that?? |
Mesquite has a nice Hooters and a restaraunt row. Sounds good to me. If you will recall, I used to host quite a few dinners at my place. Beer, BBQ, shooting. Got tired of having to ask people to cover my costs. Some guys were SUPER generous, others tossed me 2.00-3.00 for all you can eat BBQ, all you can drink beer and free range time. Got old to be left holding the hat. I stopped hosting general meets, and now host 'Invitation Only' groups. That has worked much better. TRG |

actually... it started back in 2002... and Angelo's in Ft. Worth I believe was one of the very first, if not the first, and was DonR's choice....
I may be hazy on the year, but it was definitely 2 Rows. Cause AROCK was the one that wanted it centralized for the first one and chose 2 Rows off Greenville and 1st Weds. of the month. We then changed it to Saturdays since it was difficult for people to get round the metroplex during the week. |
Hey you can always crash out at my pad afterwards. I will see about setting something up near Mesquite area. I recall we have at least a handfull of members there. MM38 and Motown Steve to name a few. |
Do you always HAVE to argue about meaningless details? |
Apparently you are arguing about it. I was merely pointing out a fact, which obviously isn't meaningless if the first post was about the same thing-- meaning the DFW crew events have been around since 2002, or earlier, not 2003. |
Dear lord.... Grow up. Really. |
Dude-- you need to chill out-- nobody is arguing here, but you. You grow up. |
Would suggest a resturant not tainted yet....
It would suck to get a waitress that remembered a select few of the group who argued about service and refuses to tip... |
How about a drunken trip to Six Flags some Saturday.
Get trashed and ride rollercosters all day. |
Weeellllll.....sounds like a nice spring time outing for the ARFCOM group to me. I'll check on group pricing. |
How about a drunken trip to look at some boobs! |
I would like to suggest Tupinamba's. Located just orth of Forest and Inwood rds., next to the tollway. |
Sounds wonderful!!! |
Its to bad TRG, that people dont have enough class to do the right thing. I would be honored if you put me on the invitie list when ever you have a gathering. John |

Suckup. j/k |

OK so this poll is not very methodical or scientific, but it seems to be that the majority of DFW folks are in N Dallas area??
We do have Ft Worth and E Dallas coming a close 2nd. So the way I am seeing it is we should have 60% of our dinners in N Dallas area, 20% of our dinners in E Dallas area. The other 20% of the time in the Ft Worth area (you mid cities folks are pretty much centralized) |
Ok - here is a recommendation on the east side of town:
www.culpeppersteakhouse.com/ It is in Rockwall right on 30. Kinda pricey, but nice atmosphere and good food. Does anyone know a great catfish place? |
Kinda pricey??? That a whole week of unemployment check for me |
Are you on Unemployment Al? |
Might as well be, I am working temp right now. |
For the east side folks.......
There is a brand new Chilis in Forney that is about to open on HWY 80 in front of the new Walmart. Or if in the mood for Mexican food there is Martinez also in Forney which is not bad, $8-$10 per plate. (There is also a Martinez and Tino's in Mesquite owned by the same family) |
Culpepper's price is not bad at all. The catfish place across 30 closed a couple of years ago. There is one very good catfish place, but it's on Master off Bruton in the Grove. Only ETH and I could go there safely, we're the only ones ethnic enough to blend in. Why not rotate the location around DFW each month? mm |
Now I understand why TRG didn't invite me publicly anymore. |
I know the grove quiet well, you better make it lunch instead of dinner. You will feel safer in day light.
There is a good little place called Catfish Sam's in Arlington, off of Division. |
We do. That was the idea of DFW dinners and it was so during its first year or so. However, there was a point in time where we got stuck going to Bone Daddy's in Richardson. Hence the purpose of this thread to find out the locales the members live in. Make the rotations accordingly. Also the reason for asking for restaurant suggestion. As stated in my post. |
I'm in for a rotating schedule. I don't mind making a drive to see you guys. But, I got a little worn out with Bone Daddy's and the same faces each time. TRG |
The 'same faces' at Bone Daddy's or your dinner company? |
Dinner company. TRG |
Damn dude. |
This always makes my laugh out loud, and tear up a bit. |
Listen to mojo... mojo is wise |

Several of us are taking an Armorer's class in Plano on the weekend of Feb 24/25.
Might be a nice time for a dinner that Saturday evening. Just a thought... |
There you go thinking again. Wha'd I tell you about that. |
I've got drill that weekend... On the other hand, I'm in Plano right now, leaving work soon... anybody up for dinner? I'm HUNGRY. |
You didn't tell me, you asked. And what you asked was "Do you want a sling?" |
You guys get married and not tell us??? I mean... a woman... complaining about "drill weekend" Simply MUST be a married woman! |
OMG Don't EVER use the M word about me! "Drill" refers to the Guard, and I wasn't complaining about drill, just pouting about missing dinner! |
Oh..... ok |
Well poll is still saying the majority are in the northern area of Dallas.
So the way I am looking at it. We need to do 2 dinner in Ft Worth. 2 Dinner in the Mesquite area. The rest we can do in the Dallas/N Dallas area. We just did one in Plano for Jan. Me thinks we do one more in Dallas. Then we can shoot for Mesquite area in Mar. |
