I'm going to be in the DFW area for a couple of weeks. I would like to head out to one of the ranges there and do some shooting. I remember reading that some ranges use a magnet and refuse to let you shoot anything with steel in it.

Can anyone recommend a nice outdoor range with steel gongs and targets in the Dallas area which allows the use of M855 and/or WOLF ammunition?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot hrt4me. Both ranges are very nice. Do you know of any ranges closer to Dallas/Plano area? unfortunately both ranges are about 1.5 to 2 hrs drive from where I'll be staying.

BTW: I couldn’t believe Jim Scoutten and Bill Davison were both at TacPro for the show. That was cool to see.
Here are some pictures from the TacPro web site:

Adreniline proving grounds, 1 hour outside of dallas.  Tom Bean Range (search for it) is in - Tom bean, off of Joe Bob road.  Both will allow you to shoot what you want.

I am not aware of any other ranges that will allow FMJ, ect.

None that I know of that meet all these requirements. Bring your own steel gongs and there are a plenty.

I haven't been to TacPro since the 3-gun match in May, but what happened to all the steel they had hanging on the 1000-yard range?

BTW, his name is Bill Davison (not Davidson), and yes, he and his wife, Alice, live there on the property. Rule No. 1 whenever you go out there: do NOT piss off Alice.

Do you have to become a member at Tacpro to be able to shoot there? Do they have Day passes? Any ideal as for the price of membership/day passes?

Anyone can shoot in the pistol bays and on the 100 & 200 yard range.  You have to be a member to shoot on the 300,400,500,1000 yard range.
