I had seen these before but I didn't realize how much this guy was selling. Searching completed auctions he has sold 40 Cans in just the last few months.

There is no explanation for this other than this guy being a Felon. I have heard that you might find one or two that fell off the truck every now and then, this guy has been selling these for years.

If my suspicions are correct, it would make for a very meaty class action lawsuit.

Those are some serious rounds. That's nuts.

My understanding is that those "Raufoss" rounds are simply API rounds with a cheap paint job on them. A guy on M2HB.net busted the scam a while back and posted pics of the round, the silver paint under the cheap paint job and a cut away of the bullet with the cheap paint job still on the bullet. Evidently the seller has been doing this for years. Kinda like selling fake dope I guess...who do you report the crime to?

Anyway I'm told Gunbroker had been notified but apparently doesn't have an issue as long as they get their cut

That's why I said it's ripe for a class action. He has been selling about 10K-15K a month of this stuff for how long?

Evidently for at least two years

If you can find the thread you should send a link to everyone on GB who purchased this ammo. If that's even possible, what scum.

I'm finding out that doing so is usually more trouble than it's worth.

There's always the possibility that the rounds are in fact what they are being sold as.

Frankly I wouldn't be slamming somebody's sale with out first hand experience that they are in  fact fake painted rounds.

Now as for them being stolen .mil stuff, well WTF knows. Lots of shit has appeared over the past 10 years that has me wondering.

It's not commercially available. Stolen or Fake, take your pick. Anybody that knows shit about it will say that its fake based on how tightly controlled it is.

Just out of curiosity, what is the civilian use for a Raufoss round? I'm not against them or anything, I wonder what application would require a Raufoss vs a commercially available .50 round. Or is it just for the kick ass factor

It's just an enhanced API with some explosives. API is easy to get and the cheapest of 50 bullets because its undesireable to shoot due to fire risks.

Basically it makes a bigger hole in steel and lights fires.

There really isn't any practical use for them in the civilian market other than killing a bear that is hiding inside a steel shed.

If they are real, they would make a nice birthday gift!

Thanks, that's pretty much what I figured. And at $10+ per round, I would be PISSED if I didn't get what I paid for.
