This probably belongs in GD, but I'm sure it would get overrun with stupid there and since I can't think of where else to post this I figured the NYHTF would be best.

I was just reading on TS.com how someone put their 100,000 targets pin up for sale on eBay and they mentioned that it probably cost them that much to get it. Has anyone here ever tracked to the penny how many rounds they shot in a year as well as all expenses relating to it?

Nope. Thinking about reloading? If thats the reason, i just did a search today (google) at various forums of people quoting costs of manufactured ammo per round, compared to their reloading costs. Lets just say very, very interesting.

No, I already reload 10,000+ rounds per year in 12 ga. alone.

Just thinking about doing it just to do it.

Way I see it - It doesn't necessarily "save" me any money - reloading just allows me to shoot more....which of course means, more bullets, primers, bullets and brass.

Nice to see ammo coming down though - put that stuff away for a rainy day.

Aside from ammo costs, reloaded or otherwise - club membership, cleaning supplies and the cost of printed targets are pretty much it.

This has been my view up until now. I think during 2011 though I'm going to keep track of all my shooting related expenses from gun purchases, ammo, training, hotels, gas, etc.

Im affraid that knowing will perhaps curb my spending in hopes of saving money for something else, Witch in a round about way equates to less shooting..  we wouldnt wanna do that now would we...?

It won't cause me to shoot any less, maybe it will make me invest in ways to cut my expenses which might make it so I can shoot more! I've been thinking about getting rid of my pickup and getting a small car that gets excellent gas mileage, it would be nice on the long trips to only have to fill up once or twice.

I got rid of my dodge 2500 three years ago ( sorta, I crashed it ) but with the money I got back from the insurance I bought a 97 jeep Cherokee sport, Its goes everywhere my truck went, gets twice the gas mileage, insurance is half as much, and no payment ...  The biggest bonus is you don't get that "hey you got a truck would you mind helping with this? or that?... Iv been dept free for 3 years now, and there is no way I'm going back.. After thinking about what you said, it dose sorta make since to keep track, as long as any of the money you save goes back into it, and not my oldladys shoe account .
