Greetings OHIO folks! After 32 years in South Florida my wife and I are headed to the family farm (sort of, hasn't really been a farm in many years) in southern OHIO. Little cow town called South Point on the OHIO River. Can't wait. My folks are still with us but getting a bit frail to care for 64 acres and two houses so it's time. Little earlier than I planned but the wife has a job waiting on her so "Damn the consequences, full speed ahead!" Not many get a chance to go home and spend time with family it seems so away we go.

Worked for a cable company down here for 32 years but I may find myself handing out shopping carts at Wally Word (If I'm lucky!) After hunkering down in the house through three major hurricanes and weeks without power in 100 degree weather they can have this place.

I will miss the Gun Shows in West Palm, though they aren't what they once were. And my 15 year part time job as an RO on a private gun club/range will be tough to leave. Great people and a first class place. www.mcsa.cc if you want to see what they can manage to do with as little property as they were able to acquire. (Believe it or not, only place in two counties you can shoot outside.) But my own property to shoot on, woods, real grass, trees!! And seasons that aren't just 10 and 1/2 months of hell followed by a month of hot and two or three weeks of beautiful weather will be nice!

In time I hope to meet some Arfcom folks and find local clubs/ranges/competitions. After a job I hope!  I don't post much but lurk a lot.

Here's hoping you find work that doesn't involve a blue vest...

Looked it up on the map, South Point is appropriate, that is as south in OH as you can get.  Welcome home.

I was just in South Point the other day...riding my motorcycle down there. Not much there, but it's a quiet slice of the state for sure.

Have you ever considered a job in sales?

You just made the thought of moving from Florida to Ohio sound pretty decent.

Welcome back!

Please be sure to pick up your allergies at the Ohio River as you cross the border back into our great state.

My partner and I were two of the unknown "Night Walkers". We kept the infrastructure (mostly high speed internet) outdoors running when a problem cropped up at night. Amazing how many times that involved bullet holes in equipment and the lines themselves. Fun to try to open up and fix a handful of cut fiber optic lines out of a bundle of 200+!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. We are excited and almost scared to death at the same time. Big step.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! Tomorrow we close on our house here. Truck is 4/5th packed and car carrier is in the front yard. Saturday morning, god willing, we are headed home! Once I get back online (may be a while) I'll see if I can figure out this picture posting thing and put up some pics of the beautiful log cabin we're moving into. Just don't have time now. 200 year old two story hand cut log frame; modern enough inside to be comfy.
God's country here we come!

I'm right there with ya docslester!

After 2.5 years in Illinois (which equates to roughly 50 years in South Florida) I'm headed back to Ohio this week! WooHooo!

Well it took two months to get most everything done. Finally got this machine up and online again. Glad to be home. Lots of projects done. Roads built, sheds reconstructed, man cave/reloading room built, and boxes and boxes and boxes unpacked! I think we took this picture when we were here in July. More to follow!!

Welcome back!

Some buddies and I like to frequent Wayne National Forest, which isn't too far away from you new place. Next time we come through town, lets grab a beer(s).
