"Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Yuma, has a bill to clarify the "make my day" law. In this country, we believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty and that people have the right to protect themselves in their own home. But as it now stands, that is not the case under the Colorado "make my day" law. Currently, people must prove that they are in fear of their life and that they are not guilty of murder in order to claim this form of self-defense. Rep. Gardner's bill would switch the presumption, ensuring that a person truly is innocent until proven guilty."
