Howdy all from North Carolina.
My Father in law passed away Friday night (88 yo. WW2 Combat Medic) God rest his soul.
So, he has a firearm that my wife will need to ship here to NC. next week.
It is a black powder revolver of considerable value, due it being a rare presentation piece ,which is a family heirloom.
I have to stay home to hold down the fort and watch over our flock of animals. My wife is going to need a quick and easy way to get it back here to NC. without going through the hassles of having to check it on the airline, on her return flight.
So, who can turn me onto a reputable shop that can ship it for her.

Thanks Bob W.

Black powder is considered a relic, and does not need to go through a FFL.  You should be able to insure it and ship it to yourself.

Someone will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry for your loss.

Thats my understanding as well. Just get a decent hardcase and package it up and send it with a normal carrier.

You don't need a ffl for blackpowder. If you still want one to ship it to though, Cedar Valley Outfitters in Marion is good.

something else to keep in mind is that if you already own and possess a firearm you can ship it to yourself without going through a dealer.

the one thing I'm not clear on is if you have to transfer one that you are GIVEN out of state or if that only applies to a purchase.

The one thing I am sure of is that a black powder firearm is not considered a firearm in the eyes of the BATFE and that means there are no federal regulations concerning it.

concerning Cedar Valley Outfitters, Ernie is a good guy and I have done a lot of business with him, that said, he charges too damn much for transfers. ($50 last I saw)

CVO is GTD but I dont get the $50 transfer. Last time I was in it was $45. Like others said you should be able to just ship it home no FFL needed.
