BTW Craig, What time do you want us to invade your place Saturday? We'll be sure to act like gentleman around your wife (you did send her away for the weekend, right?).
Not sure if any F/A toys will be there, I did invite a friend who has some but he's wishy washy so I wouldn't count on him. As for me, I'll have plenty of Enfields, an L1A1, AR's, my Storm, Garand, pistols, etc.
As for when to show up, I'd guess Saturday morning, early afternoon....whenever your heart desires. I'll be here from the early am on. Weather is the only variable. Looks like some rain starting Wednesday but it's supposed to die off by the weekend, maybe some light rain lingering into Saturday morning...but Sunday is supposed to be sunny. Temps will be cool, but not brutal at night which is good for camping. If that holds up, and anyone wants to wait out the rain or show up later on Saturday that's cool. No rules, just show up when you feel like and leave the same. If nothing else, we can get JME a microphone and let him do his Ronnie James Dio karaoke medley until the sun breaks through. I heard a bit of his singing this weekend, and it's to die for. If we do get a lot of rain, the path back to the range might be a bit greasy but it's never too bad. A light truck won't have any problem with it, and there's the quad if need be. Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, if you come do bring something you can park your butt on while you shoot, like a scrap of carpet or old blanket...else you'll get dirty. Also a folding chair for the campfire if you feel like it. As for food, I'm going to have some buffalo burgers, hot dogs, potatoe salad and baked beans. If you bring some snack stuff or beverages, that would be awesome....beer included. I've got the range about 95% done. Rifle racks are done, plates are hung and painted, and neighbors have been notified that WWIII is coming. Can't wait! |

Your in luck mywifehatesguns because Ive got quite a collection of FA stuff. Im squad leader in delta-soft company(air-sorft team) and I have a small collection of air soft guns all select fire. I'll bring plenty of rubber pellets so dont worry about paying me anything. I'll also do some demonstrations on tactical meneuvering and whatnot and show you the ins and outs of what being an elite airsofter is all about.
I might bring my 10-22 also. I just bought an acog setup for it and need to get it sighted in as well as my surelight mounted. Should be real nice when Im done. Keep your fingers crossed. |
Don't pay JME no mind, he talks ALOT of BS. In fact you could drowned in it. He does some damn fine machine work! |
you are so completely full of it, boy i have a pork tenderloin in the freezer im going to defrost and bring--brian, what do i need to marinate it like the stuff you had at memorial day?? or do you just want to bring the marinade? |
Montgomery Inn mesquite barbaque sass, small bottle of vegitable oil, small bottle of italian dressing. |
Heya Swingset,
Hope I don't seem too pushy to ask if you'd mind if a couple of new guys showed up? I would definitely be interested in meeting some fellow Ohians that are into ARs/Guns. and My bud Quicksilver (made only one post that I know of in here) might like to come as well. I only own a BM Varminter at the moment, so I'm not near as hardcore as you lot ;) Thinking of an M4 build-myself for my next gun... shocker ;) so wouldn't mind maybe checkig out some other peoples setups. |
IM sent. |
Oh yeah, almost forgot one very important detail!
For the attendees, make sure you bring a pistola...I have made up, with JME's help, a couple plate racks so we can have "drag races". All you need is something that will hold 5 rounds...so I'd assume any pistol other than a 2shot derringer will suffice. And, bring your A-game because I'm the pistola MASTER. If by some fluke I don't beat everyone's ass, I reserve the right to change the rules of the game to declare myself the uncontested champion. Fair? |
Damn now I have to make a 1919 pistol by the weekend!!!!! Thanks Craig
Oh, for you I might let you use one of my custom Jennings .25 autos. I have some delicious nickel plated jobbies that have been given the special treatment....which includes bling-bling sights, mounted on the side of the frame and pearl grips of course. I often carry them in my "Billy Blaze" cowboy holster set I got when I was eleven. The little plastic bandolier belt holds those ultra powerful .25 shells just perfect....and the pleather construction is easy on the finish of the guns. Crap. Just realized I'm starting to sound like JME. I should quit hanging around him, he's starting to infect my mind. Seriously, I have a lot of good pistols if you need one. |
Pistols are like AKs. I have more than I need but not as many as I want.
Well,
Santa has apparently ignored my letter and it looks like we might have a wet one this weekend, probably Saturday. Fat fucker. Anyway, fear not fellas for it shall not affect our fun. First off, if we get pooped on Saturday, we have 3 options. 1, ignore the wet, put up a shelter and weather be damned. This might result in some mud. 2, head to my local range, which is about 15 minutes from my house, but has covered shooting positions. Not a very "bump fire" kinda place, but I doubt anyone would even be there. Never is. 3, say screw it, go to the gun store, go to a steak joint and get drunk. I'm open to any of these. Sunday is supposed to be dry, so there's one upside. |
Rain sleet or snow, I'm still bring the bike. Hopefully you won't be able to tell what color it is when I'm done riding.
YEAH BABY!!! |
Don't worry. I have a good tow strap to pull you out when the red clay swallows your scooter. 4wd Honda power!! |
My tent is setup for rain and Im sure we can put up some decent shelters. IF anyone has any extra tarps to bring that would be good. I might go out and buy another. If we can camp in a spot near some trees we can setup some overhang.
I plan on using the rain as an excuse to get muddy Jeremy McGrath style Mike and I should be there by around 12-1. |
Just looking at NWS and the weather forecasts, we might luck out. Supposed to quit drizzling by saturday morning. Supposed to be windy, but in the woods that won't be much of a problem. Sunday still looks great.
Now, back to mag-loading and watching porn. |
Hehe....now the forecast is back to rain on Saturday.
I think the NWS has a big dartboard with percentages on it. Throw a dart, "Wow! 40% chance of rain!". Shit I love the predictable Ohio Valley weather patterns. |
Well guys, I'm going to have to check out of this one. There's just too much going on right now for me to make it up there.
I'll be sure to make the Spring "swingsetfest". |
You're not fooling me bucko. You and Leisure Shoot are ditching us in the cold and wet to go hit the tittie bars, aren't ya!? |
you had to mention that, trying to talk me out of making it? |
Dont dismay guys Im bringing some entertainment. I went to walmart and found a 3 box set of Peter, Paul and Marys greatest hits. If thats not wild enough for ya Im also bringing my John Denver collection. You guys are really gonna miss out |

That doesn't make you gay. At least I hope not or I've got to get busy throwing files away. |
Well, all I can say is I hope D_C can keep you little girlie-men from acting out any of your homo-erotic activities you have described.
And, GM, shoot some .30 through that carbine for me. I must have one of those, soon. |
Hmm, they musta remembered Sweetest Day....
Fluggin Hallmark...................... |

As I take the last load to the car I find its hailing. Damn I love Ohio weather
try moving furniture in that crap. Hope you guys got at least some shooting in. |
Wow guys!!! Thanks for a great time! I had a great time shooting some new toys and an even better time making some new friends, maybe next time I will actually camp out. It sounds like I missed out on a great feast, and I'm sure a few beers as well. Everyone let me know your screen names. I know swingset, glimmerman, and JMC, but I did not get the screen names for the rest of you guys. I will probably remember you best by the toys that you had or what you were wearing. I am going to post a link to some pics below. BTW, I'm the tool that is in middle of the 3 stooges trying to look tough.
Paul, a big thanks to you for letting me shoot the 1919. That's the most fun I've had with my clothes on!href=CLICK HERE FOR SOME PICS Hope to throw some lead with you guys again real soon!! |
It was a pleasure meeting you and your friends mywifehatesguns. You guys are surely lucky to live so close to Craig. You guys should try to make it to the halloween shoot.
It was a hell of a good time despite the slight rain saturday. Thanks again Craig for an excellent time and great hospitality from you and your wife. I'll be looking forward to the next one. Perhaps the next time I could give you some more lessons on the pistol targets. Unfortunetely I wasnt 100% this weekend with my pistol shooting due to having sprained my wrist last week. IM well on the road to recovery though. |
Glad you could make it Kyle. Had a great time as well. Thanks for the pics!!!
i was the one with the brownies good to meet you guys--hope to shoot (and eat) with you again soon ETA: the usual long list of thanks to craig and debra for the hospitality to paul for the ride and the firearms to mike for the use of the python to john for always making sure im not bored and brian for all of the humor |
Thanks to Craig and Debra. Class act. Had a great time and cought up on my beauty sleep.
Thanks guys for the kind words, it was a pleasure having everyone over. Next time I'll ask Santa for some better weather. Even with the crappy Saturday, it was still great fun. I'll do some more work on the range this winter and by the next time we have a shoot it should be more hospitable.
Thanks Brian for the work on my Bushy, it kicks ass now. Too bad your shower experience didn't live up to your expectations...we all wanted to see your naked, shivering ass fly through the woods seeking a towel, which we fully planned on swiping from you. Oh, those potatoes rocked! Thank you John for the beer, you are a lifesaver to a drunk in need cause that stuff Brian had was too manly for me. I've spent long years tempering my taste buds to accept only the cheapest of beers. Thank you Mike for leaving me that new 2A Ishapore, you're so generous leaving it to me! I'll borrow my friend's KTM 550 next time around, and we'll do some moto races on those swampy trails! Thanks Annie for the brownies and getting Bullet crazy, I think he liked you. Thank you Paul for bringing the 1919, always a pleasure seeing that. You win the "most damage" award, I think you have a future in demolition! Glad you got some rest, too...hehe. Thanks Kyle for coming up and representing the gunsnet folks! Glad you brought your cousin and his buddy, both good guys...come up anytime. If your cousin brings up some AR plate, we can really make some neat targets for the range too...that'll be neat. Till next time! |
Dang it was a good time though next time I'm bringing a different sleeping bag or wimp out and sleep on the couch! Still picking ice from between my toes. Still was a great time, hell of a nice place you've got there Craig. Happy to bring beer anytime! Though schnapps might have been in order for the chill
looks like a lot of fun. Where is the location in relation to the cincy area (Tri County Mall).
Yes i saw that. I was just asking where the place is located. Oh, and Johnny, you are into airsoft huh. I play too. Did you happen to attend any of the John Lu events this year. I went to OP Northern Wind (in Springfield) and OP Irene II at Joelton Air Force BAse in TN. There are a couple events coming up in November. Nov. 6th in Springfield and Nov. 20th at the same place in Springfield. Nov 6th will be more shoot em up style play and Nov 20th will be Milsim. |
JME is the man with Airsoft, he has some really sick toys. At the shoot this past weekend he put on one hell of a display for us. I am amazed at how realistic they are and the F/A ones kick ass!!! To answer your question, Swingset's is about 45 minutes directly east of columbus. |
I didnt attend the John Lu events but we had some of the guys there mostly gathering intel rather than participating. Our group is pretty low key and usually only participates in special missions. Because of the combined scope of experience our team holds we rarely challenge other groups because we beat them so badly. To be fair to most enthusiasts we only meet a certain echelon of people. Its pretty top level stuff that I cant go into much in depth. |
