Whatever you find out, just be damn sure you don't cross over to the California side.

Curious to know myself...like to snowboard there now and again. Isn't most of the area BLM territory?
Sad this year, only 16" of snow and three runs open @ $35! Two runs if you leave out the flat bunny hill.

Since when did the wilderness area governed by the BLM not allow firearms??
Someone better call NDOW and get rid of the hunting area too. I am not 100% sure, but I have never seen any sign or regulation not allowing you to carry in the area. Now the resort is private property and they can "try" and tell you what they want you to do or not to do. |

Isn't Mount Charleston Metro's area? I used to know a resident officer up there about 10 years ago.
I never had any problem carrying in my vehicle or on my person on Mount Chas. But then again it has been a while since I've been up there. |

Well I figured since it was some kind of National forest it would be illegal....also my first CCW instructor (American Shooters) told our class it was illegal.
 I called Tim Short, District Ranger at 515-5400 and he put me through to LE, he was a nice guy and said CCW holders can carry, long arms are no problem and shooting is allowed as long as it is done with a backstop, nobody else is within 150 yards and everything is cleaned up. I said since it was a national forest I figured it would be illegal and I think he said I was confusing it with National Parks Service area which would ban guns. I know guns are banned in Grand Canyon.... |

Depending on where your at in the Spring Mountains, Mt. Charleston is patrolled by Metro resident officers (Clark County land,residential areas), NHP troopers (the state highways up there),BLM Rangers (BLM land), and US Forest Service LEO's (USFS land,campgrounds,picnic areas,etc.)They all back each other up on calls.Generally if something like a missing hiker or disaster occurs up there, Metro would respond (i.e. Search and Rescue unit, Air Support, Etc.) regardless of where it is. |
