I dont know if any of you have ever heard of the Verboort Sausage Festival, but it is fun. It is always on the first Saturday of November. Verboort is a SMALL town located West of Portland off of 26 (Sunset Hwy). They smoke a SHITLOAD of sausages for sale and also have an all you can eat sausage/kraut and all the fixins type dinner for 13 or 14 bucks. There are arts and crafts, bingo and all kinds of stuff to keep people happy, but the real fun is when you hop on the school bus and head out to the gun range. At the range they have 5 or 6 bonfires blazing and the famed BEER GARDEN. Wear a goofy hat and you will fit in just fine.
If any of you decide to roadtrip and come on down look the drunk guy in shorts (yes shorts!)
and say Hi. Have a designated driver and I will even buy you a beer!

Are they shooting at the range or is it just a beer fest. I can't imagine that they would let you shoot at a range after polishing off a pitcher or two.

It does sound fun though. Are there a bunch of Orygunians from the board going? If there is shooting going on, does anyone bring any f/a stuff?

No shooting, just bonfires, beer and a helluva fun time. I dont know if any of us Orygunians (besides myself) will show up, we tend to be a bunch of slackers down here, just take a look at how dead the Oregon Hometown forum is...I read Washingtons more than Oregons! If I had to guess, I would say that there are less then 500 residents living in Verboort, but this event draws a pretty good sized crowd. There is a gunshop there, but I have not made it there early enough to check it out yet.
If you can, drop on by!

This sounds like a mighty fine idea. I doubt I can make it, but this just might be something to try to attend. :)

Any places to stay or camp close to the festivities?

Unfortunately this is located out in farming country, so there are not any hotel/motels within about 15 miles. I have a friend who lives in the vicinity and I will talk to him to get the REAL details on camping/hotel/motel, Please check back to this link in a few days, I will update it and let you know the scoop. It would be fun to have some AR15.commers show up!
This event is FUN!!

Me neither but it was nice to get an invite from the Oregon crew. We usually ask them to our stuff too but they never come either!
