I'm assuming that you must be 21 to buy an assault rifle in MD?
Technically, you can purchase a rifle in VA if you are from out of state. The problem is that the VA is supposed to comply with VA law as well as MD law, IIRC. This would then keep an FFL in VA from selling you the rifle. Isn't it a law in MD that Assault Weapons have to be registered, or something similar. If so, this would also keep you from making a private purchase as well. |

It wouldn't be legal for you to take it back in MD. But it is legal for you to buy a rifle in VA as an out of state res.

From y experience...VA state law says that an FFL holder/dealer must comply with VA, Federal, and the home state laws of a non-resident purchaser...So, if MD has a law that you don't get it until you are 21, then a VA dealer cannot sell to you.
Technically, a private sale is also regulated by the same rules, but harder to enforce. |

You could move over the creek and experience freedom and the right to own a rifle over the age of 18, in Virginia they do not treat you like a peasant under the crown rule.
 Bring thy shillings to Virginia young man and rejoice your freedom from tyrannical decree.
