Has anyone here gotten the CLEO sign off for an SBR?  I've started all the paperwork and need to go get fingerprinted next Monday.  Do we drop off the Form 1 paperwork at the same place as the fingerprints to get it signed?  Or do I need to go somewhere else for the signature?

how long has it taken any of you to get the signoff?  Checking some of the other forums, it seems the ATF really has gotten it together and they are getting you your tax stamp back in under a month.

You will need to go to the CCW detail to hand in the form but they will want you to fill out another form with background information.

You can get your prints done at the same time which is where the wait might come in. However if you live or work in Henderson or NLV in which case go to get you prints done locally its quicker and you dont need them for the CLEO sign off and you  can get them done while you wait the weeks for the sign off to come back (I got several sets done in Henderson so I have spares for my next application).

I have several of the Metro background forms if you want to fill that out before you go and save time let me know I can fax or email them to you.

Its taking around 3 weeks to get it back from Metro at the minute they are only processed I think on a Wednesday or Thursday and then take a couple of weeks to get to the cheif and back to the CCW office.

Pedro - That would be great if you would email the background packet to me - [email protected].

So I should go to the NLV Police station to get my fingerprints done instead of the CCW place (either way I'll get there right when they open)?  I was told that I needed to order the actual ATF fingerprint cards, is this true?

Do I need to turn them in on Wes or Thursday, and do they then mail them back to me or do I need to pick them up?

Thanks for the help - it sucks I have to go through all this.

The standard FBI fingerprint cards you get from any of the places are fine, you can submit your forms any day they just only process them in the office on one day a week.

I would not go on a Monday as its always busy and yo will have to wait.

Wednesday or Thursday makes zero difference. I submitted a Form 1s on Wednesday the 4th of this month and picked it up Friday the 27th. One was signed and dated 10-10-06 the other was dated 10-17-06. (both Tuesdays) I called Patty on Thursday October 19th, and she told me she still had a stack of forms on her desk to work on and get out and mine was among them. So yeah, figure on three weeks or more.

Not too long ago it was typically 5 working days from submittal to CLEO signoff. Of course the BATF/NFA branch was located in D.C. and their approval time was measured in months not weeks. It's now entirely possible to have your NFA transfer or approval go quicker than it takes to get your CLEO sign off.

When submitting your F-1 to BATF&E, don't forget to include your Certification of Compliance and fingerprint cards along with your personal check for $200.00. Oh, and contrary to what the latest F-1 revision states, you mail the entire package to the new USDOJ/NFA branch in Martinsburg, W.V.

Who knows what the next administration may bring. I'd take care of any NFA business now. YMMV
