what if....
we as the GA gang, through an FFL or dealer or a boardmember who handles money for a living (accountant, business owner etc) got together, picked a round and ordered a pallet of it. of course there would be all kinds of whining over what to buy but since margins on surplus are already razor thin we'd have to get something like Q3131a, Wolf, AE, or PMC. if we got enough guys we could each get a few cases at a signifigant discount. my dad and his buddies do this. they are very serious sporting clay and trap shooters and buy a pallet of 12ga and a pallet of 20 or 16ga every couple of months. Wolf, Estate, S&B, and fiocchi usually break down to $2.50 a box. if you shoot 12ga you know how cheap that is. |
Hmmm. Very, very interesting.
Eh, why not I'm sure ARG would not mind. |
No thanks. ARH |

If Locust Grove isn't too far out for most of you,I can handle it.
And I've got a business address and a forklift (as long as it isn't raining),so that may get the shipping cost down a dollar or two. Robert. |
I may be interested, need to see what the dollars come to. I have a small ammo budget.
Are you gonna make it to the FOP shoot in Bham? Just making sure everyone knows about it. ByteTheBullet (-: |
If its going to be Q3131a for less than the gunshow prices (like down to BPS sale prices), I'm in for a case or three
unfortunately i cant make it to the FOP shoot. ill be lucky if i get to make it to CE
well we got a guy with a business and a forklift? do we have an FFL by any chance? and what are you guys interested in? |
Let me know what and how much you need and I can get it. Only thing, you'll have to come to Newnan to pick it up.
I would be in if I could have it brought to one of the FOP get togethers.
im willing to drive as well. it would be interesting to see how low we could get the per-case price on a full pallet. from what ive seen of deals like this in past we would have to go to the distributer and pick up the order. that would require a member with a truck or small trailer who's gas and lunch would be reembursed by the group. maybe a few members could make a roadtrip of it. for example, lets say i go abd pick up the pallet. then i deliver it to the member with the storage space, then the rest of the members can come pick up their cases on a time schedule convenient to the member storing the pallet. now we need..
an FFL or someone with a distributer contact enough members willing to chip in. |
Great idea. |
Newnan would be a good drive and I'd definetely be in for a few cases.
I have some distributors that will pay freight if the order is enough. I just recently ordered 60 cases of shotgun shells and they were free shipping. They even sent them UPS. I know the UPS guy hated that day.

Is this a group buy? Maybe. Maybe not. (We're not supposed to discuss group buys in anywhere other than the EE.) I personally view this as polling the local members for their interest in bulk ammo purchases. Once we get to a point where we think this might really happen, we need to take it to e-mail and IMs to avoid breaking site rules.
Having said the official stuff, I am always interested in Q3131A. I could be talked into Federal M193 ammo as well. I am also interested in Port or other quality .308. Now, my opinion on group buys: They are a pain in the ass to organize people, so these deals usually fall apart. I have personally found it's just better to call, IM, or whatever people you actually know from the board and just keep these deals between a very few people. Many people will say "I'll take one" and then never follow through with it. Just the way it works sometimes. Dealing with ammo in some quantity (like MANY cases) would be a pain in the ass for whomever receives the ammo, unless they are a dealer (as has been suggested). I certainly don't want 20 cases of ammo dropped off on my doorestep. And then there is the money. Unless people are going to pay BEFORE the order is placed, it can be a pain in the ass (not to mention expensive) for the guy ordering. I'm not trying to kill this. I really hope it works out. I'd be willing to drive to Newnan if GAcop will handle this for us. If you really can get a good discount, I'm in for sure. I appreciate you trying to put this together. |
I'd be willing to pay up front. If this thread does go elsewhere can someone please post the link? Thanx |

We got ya, Beetle. I'll make sure you stay informed.
Missed you Saturday, BTW. |
South of Hotlanta on I-85, between Atlanta and Columbus.
Probably out of your AO... |
Thanks. I can't believe I missed it, and the 50 cal. I'll probably get flamed for this due to prior discussion on our side, but Six Flags SUCKED (wife and I went for our anniversary). We actually left. (crowds, @#$% errant Q-bots, etc.) This ammo under consideration will be .55 gr, I presume? Got to have it for my 1/12 twist barrel. = only stipulation. Beetle |

Guys, I'm new to the GA forum, but I'd be in on this. I was looking at buying a couple cases of XM193, so if it's Q or XM, I'd be in on at least 2 cases depending on the final price, and location of the drop. I don't mind driving a few hours as I usually just find something else to do in the area, but I don't want to drive to valdosta or anything.
I'm willing to help get this going in any way I can. Someone let me know what I need to do.
I'm sorry. You have to have at least 430 posts to take advantage of this offer. <---- SHIT. |
I'll call around tomorrow and check prices. I'll see what I can do on Q3131A. I'll probably have to order a minimum of 50 cases to get the best price.
Sounds good, GACop. If you can let me know, I can e-mail everyone with details in case they haven't seen this thread.
Ok so how much we talkin about. Say .15 a round? I am interested but that darn cash flow thing. Well you know.

I was in a group buy for some truck parts and the guy that organized it set a deadline for paymetn once he got a fix on the prices. If the ammo supplier gave prices for say, 10 cases, 15 cases, 20 cases, 30 cases, we'd have to meet one of those quantities to be in it and have payment sent by the deadline, or we'd be out.
If we had people wanting a total of 19 cases, we'd get the 15+ cases price. The more we bought the better the price gets. As far as location, something central to the state would seem ideal so that anyoen could be involved, and then guys can car pool to go pick it up. I could drive to Newnan and I'd be willing to pick up 7-8 cases (limits of a 4cyl truck) and then bring it back up north at a park and ride and meet the other guys to distribute. Just like UPS! That'd save some driving and allow others to get in on it without having to drive 200 miles to get it. (Am I at 430 posts yet?----------- hey look.....223 posts, that should get me in!) |
Ok, your in!! Has anyone actually called around and gotten prices on this or are we just putting out feelers at this point. I'm looking to get some more ammo real soon but I don't want to wait to much longer. |
$0.15 per round is a 1000-round case for $150. That's a good deal. We can usually get cases of Q3131A for $154.00 plus tax at the NATC gun shows.
Did you need a calculator for that? |
I took the liberty of sending Green Mountain Gear and e-mail asking for a quote on 10, 20 and 30 cases of XM193. They sell it for $179/case.
How many cases are we looking at at this point? |
I'm working with a distributor and already have the price MUCH lower than that. Can't give details yet. Just hold your horses. I'll update as soon as I can.
I can say we'll need to get about 20 case or more and we'll have to pay up front. I'll say it again, these deals usually end up being more of a headache than they are worth. But, if I didn't think it was worth consideration, I wouldn't be making phone calls. We'll just see how many guys are willing to put their money where their mouth is just to prove me wrong. |
I called 2 of my biggest distributors today and both are out of Q3131A. I'm still checking.
Edit- I called from home and I could only remember those 2 numbers. My knee's still screwed up but I'm going to try to get to the store tomorrow. |
Q3131A On Sale - Bass Pro - IN-STORE ONLY - $144/1000 NET 7/24-8/29 |
Thought that sale was over? I did get a "few" boxes during it though. |
Ok does it HAVE to be new? Has anyone talked to Georgia Arms up in Villa Rica?
Local boys to help feed the local toys. Ok and why am I geting the RED X OF DEATH when I open up the animations??? Buzz. |
Thats a good idea as well. Does anyone have a contact with them? There ammo always runs great for me. |
I'm only interested in current, factory produced (not reloads) M193 or M855 spec ammo. YMMV.
The news I'm getting back so far isn't that great. I also called Classic Pawn in Chickamauga (they are the ones who sell for cheap at the Eastman shows) and didn't get very good news. It seems Winchester costs to the dealers has increased. Not good. Let's hope GAcop has better luck. |
Well excuse me Mr. I'mtogoodtousereloads.
From what I saw last Sat., it wouldn't matter what you shot. Oh wait, it was the new ACOG right? You know I'm just giving you a hard time. Is all their stuff reloads? |
Yes, it was the ACOG's fault. Amazing what a bench rest can do when you're trying to zero scopes. I'm not sure if all their stuff is reloads or not. I just know XM193 and Q3131A are milspec and have a very similar POI out of my rifles. Once I know something works, I usually like to stick with it. That's all. |
Back when I was shooting my full auto's very heavy I went through alot of ammo. I found the best way to purchase was on sale at the big box dealers. I looked into quanity purchases to get the better deals you were forced to purchase multiple pallets of ammo to get a good price brake. If you guys can locate a sweet I might be interested in several cases.
