I believe this is the last weekend they are open for the season. Let me know if you can make it or if any other weekend is a good one. Lets try to get more people there this time. Bring a friend who hasn't shot before.

Hey I just got more 50BMG and got it sighted in at Bristol on the 200yd. It works like a charm. I could hit a coconut at 200yds, hmmmm.....Maybe I will bring some coconuts for the shoot. or just some melons like combat cupcake brought to the last one. See you all there.

Does the pit allow food items as targets?  Apples make a good target!

Yea, bring anything you want to shoot at. They dont allow glass products though. I say we do what we did last year and have everyone who comes out bring a pumpkin to celebrate Halloween. I have always wanted to see what the 50BMG would do to a pumpkin. Hmmmmm. I think I will bring one. I hope this turns out to be a big get together. As of now I still have that Sunday off. I hope I don't have to work.

Hey, if the guys at the pit will allow it, I have a buddy who has an old honda that he wants to shoot up.  I told him that I really dont think that they would allow a car (due to metal frames, threat of a big fire, etc).  But he said he wouldn't mind putting it in the pit and blowing it up.

What do you guys think??

Oh, obviously that means count me in...plus 5 or 6 people.

I'd say it's at least 50-50 that they'd let you put a car down there, if you took the time to drain all the fluids first.  But unless you've got access to a heavy lift helicopter, how would you get it down there?

That would make a great target.

Sounds good I will be there! Now to get the ammo!

Looks like this shoot might be a big one. I hope they will allow the car there. I wont be pushing that down the hill though. It would however be fun to shoot.

Well, does anyone know whats behind the big hill that we shoot at?

Possibly it could be drivin around back by the motocross area and then drivin to the hills.  We could drain the fluid there...then roll the sucker down.  Of course my friend, being a relatively nuts Marine said we should just clear some tables, put a cinder block on the gas and dump it in drive, and let it fly.

I said that probably wouldnt fly...anyways, does someone have a phone number that could be called to find out if they would allow a car for Blastfest V?
Link Posted: 9/24/2003 12:23:04 PM EDT
[#13]
I never really bothered to take the time to see what was at the pit or how we could get something that big down it....but, we could 1- drive it to the pit, 2- trailor it (we have an 4x4 F350 and a few trailors that will fit a honda and could probably back it down the right side assuming there is enough room and the pit isnt rainsoaked)

OR, he said he would strip the car to lighten it up, if there was a big enough opening, we could roll it down, and carry it to a stop towards the right-most part of the pit.

Its pretty light, and if it has no fluids or interior, 10 guys could lift it with ease.

I dont know...anythings fine with me assuming they say yes.

Come to think of it...since Billy (the honda owner) is a Marine and has a few friends who are helo pilots...

Well, it looks like the car is a no-go.  They really dont want it given the recent rules posted about no metal or glass, etc.

FishFood, I'm bringing my digital camera.  I'll take plenty of pictures and post them up under the archive of pictures post.

Anyone who takes pictures and wants them posted...you can email them to me at [email protected].  I'm on the school's T1 connection, and can host plenty of pictures, so if just send em there if ya want.

I was out there last monday & friday. (Vacation days). It's SOOO nice to be able to fire up the AR's and FAL's and .50 without people asking :

"I thought they outlawed those ?",

"Is that  full auto ? ". (while pointing at my bolt action AR50).

"My buddy know how  to convert those..." (Followed by me saying. "that's nice, I hope Bubba  in Club Fed is  gentle to you.....not!")

Yeah, I'm an a$$hole...... I pay the $20.00 to actually shoot. not flap my  jaw.

According to Sid (the white haired gent with the UK accent), B.R. will be open til end ofv November, weather permitting. As long as a normal car can safely get across the pond's gravel "bridge", they'll stay open.

Ill be out there and maybe I'll bring some other people with.  Also, I got a couple of new toys at an auction yesterday to try out!!

Hey snojet, they had a beautiful CETME there in pristine condition that went for $290!

Rebel,  You should have grabbed it.  Nice ones are getting harder to find.  The ones CAI is turning out now all have synthetic furniture.  Not nearly as nice as the wood IMHO.   See you all soon......

Hey Batch,  Let's grab lunch at Hooters this week ! !

Sonjet, I ran out of $!!!

I bought a Colt 1991-A1 Commander in blue with (2) grips NIB for $320.  That is what I was waiting for.  I was the second to last bidder on the cetme.  I was helping to run up the price.

Batch,
Do you still have the MP5 plastic lower? I'd like to try it out on my SW5 with my semi pack, if you have it. Shooting my little 9mm and then your .50 should be a good time...might have to bring along an AR or two and a FAL.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 7:47:52 PM EDT

FAL,  I believe I still have the clipped and pinned plastic lower for the MP5. I will check the safe, if I still have it I will bring it with and see if you like it. Have a good one.

I think I might actually be able to make it this time - bringing my brother with his brand spankin' new AR that I built for him.

And I'll be bringing some 9mm in case anyone has some kind of MP5 there...just in case...

i will be there, i have almost 3k rounds i didn't shoot at gunstock, to go thru. that is if i ever get over to eswansons house to pick up my toys

damn i wish fishfood was going to be there, best looking thing there, of course she does distract  my aiming ability

anyone bringing roadkill to grill??
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 10:11:20 AM EDT

I brought a grill the last few times, and the last few times if everyone remembers it turned out to be a piece of crap and I always end up throwing it in the pit. So no grill here...Ill have the e-z up tent, tables, and chairs though.
Eswanson- there should be a few MP5 types there from the e-mails I recieved. All semi auto though.. got to love Illinois without an 07/02

Wish I could be there for the last hoo-rah of the year.  I guess myself and my MP5 will just have to be there in spirit.

Batch, what's the indoor schedule for matches at Shooter's look like?  I'm looking at weekends to come back and well if one just happened to coincide, I might be able to make it out.

Hey Muddy ! !   How ya' been ??   How's Hot-lanta ??   The AR is awesome.  Thanks again for your help with it.
Link Posted: 10/30/2003 3:44:08 AM EDT
[#46]
Hey Snojet, Hotlanta is okay and I'm holding my own.  It's actually not so warm down here right now; night time temps have been in the low 50's and daytime in the 60's and 70's but I'm not complaining.

Glad the RRA is working out well for you.  I've got an upper on order from them that should get delivered next week after a few months of waiting.  How's CDW treating you?  Do you know Carey Nichols in sales?  She's the account rep. that has the place I'm working for.

Let off a few rounds for me at Blastfest.  I definitely miss those outings.  The ARF.com outings down here aren't all that fun as the range they shoot at is pretty uptight and does not allow any full auto and has no equivalent of the pit.  On the upside though, there's a few guys I shoot with from the board that are pretty cool and there is another range that I found out about from some of the guys with NFA toys and it's unstructured (like the Rock) and is free because it's actually National Forest property.

Muddy,

Glad to hear from you. It was a good time at the Rock, You were missed as usual. We are in the proscess of putting together the dates for the MG matches at Shooters. Looks like it will be the same as before the 3rd weekend in Jan-Feb-March. I will try to confirm it with shooters and let you know. It would be great to have you make it out for one of the weekends, you are always welcome to stay at our place if you need to. Talk to you soon, I will give you a call this weekend sometime.
