its a winny 1300 speed pump defender, 22" barrel with adj. fire sights and screw in choke tubes,

it along with two choke tubes and tax was $365 otd, more than I wanted to pay, but it was the only pump I could find that had what I wanted:

heres some pics of a 8" post I shot at 15 yards with the modified choke installed using 2 3/4" S&B #4 buck and 2 3/4" rem express hi-brass #4 birdshot,

#4 buck:

#4 birdshot:

both side by side:

surprisingly mild recoil compaired to my wood stocked 28" barreled model 1200 shooting the same loads, the recoil pad is doing its job.

I gotta get a couple of pieces of big cardboard and pattern it, its kinda shooting to the left a tad.

Sweet, You got to love short shotguns

And yes, it is to long

Between Me and my Stepdad, we picked up 4 more 870's, and 1 Mossberg, at the show last weekend.

All of which will be much shorter in the comming weeks

you just reminded me of another unfinished project ....... i need to change the furniture on my shoty..... i like winchester pumps fine...... but their older auto's suck...

i'll be interested to hear how those sights hold up... i like the looks of the fiber optic stuff but it just seems fragile out their on the end of the barel......

I actually like the 1200/1300 alot better than my 870, their lighter and the action is smoother and faster than the remington,

I looked at a mossburg 590 before getting this one but it had the plain bead sight, wood stock and cylander bore barrel,

the adj. sights, interchangable chokes capibility, composit stock, sling swivels and prior service outta the winnies was the big selling point for me.

the winny 1400 autoloader sucked ass, everyone that I seen was a serious jamomatic with highbrass loads,

I got a winny gas operated super X model 1 (2 3/4 chamber) 4+1 thats functioned great with every load I put in it except federal shells, but what it cost when new was about 2 1/2 times more than the 1400AL,

I looked at a winny super X model 2 (3" chamber) 7+1 today with the same features as the 1300, in addition to a 1919 rail on the receiver, but it was nearly three times the cost,

and I was told when I bought my 10/22 last year that the firesight optics tend to dry and fall out, so I bought a bunch of the replacement threads just in case,

I needed one at the jtac shoot, damn thing fell out, so counter ranger at least told me right about that, I found that putting alittle contact rubber cement on them will keep them from falling out with rough handling.

I have shot it much, but I like my FN Police pump which is the same as the 1300 defender, except it is parkerized, has screw in chokes, rifle sights, and shorter LOP.  Got it a little while back for $300 very much worth it.  They seem to have gone up since that winchester plant closed.

yeah man, LOP is a little long for quick handling on this one, but the recoil pad is a welcomed addition on it, I put a couple of boxes of #8 heavy dove loads through it this morning before work,

my shoulders a little sore this evening, I got too used to shooting my super x, even with hi-brass loads that thing is like shooting a .410.
