Is there an F- category?

There is still room for improvement.

I haven't found a state with an F- yet but one never knows.

Here's the list of what they consider the very worst states.

Wyoming F
New Mexico                     F
Idaho F+
Montana F
Mississippi                     F
Louisana                     F
Kentucky                     F
Florida F+
Alaska F+
Alabama F

Utah gets a D- only because there background check is preformed by the state and not the fed, according to the Brady people state checks are more through than federal checks.... In most other respects Utah's laws are very close to Idaho, again according to that web site.

Yeah Arizona only got a D- as well and I know they're gun friendly.

Oh how I love Montana.
Our CCW law seems a little screwed up at times and fixing it would probably give us our F-.

Howdy from the F troop - thanks for the info. Next time you all are passing through Wyoming on the Interstate remember WY got an F (would have been an F- if they had the catagory) so stop by a local WY gun shop and give 'em some business so we can help keep our rating strong.  What's up with AZ and Utah ? they should be in the F troop also.

I'm apply for a job in Idaho this week maybe when I get the job I can help you get a better rating than F+

I mean it is not that hard to get a good solid F the work will be getting it to a F-

But if we all band together, I know it can be done!!!

As much as I dispise the politics behind that site... it seems to me that you get a higher rating for some good things.  If doing State background checks is better at finding mental illness and other issues, to keep people from owning firearms, I can't say that I have much against that concept.  It also seems that a local background check would be faster/better for those of us in Idaho. :-)

Yes but if you have your CCW then you don't have to go through the background check for each purchase.  Plus I think the Feds database is probably more comprehensive than the local one would be and more apt to catch someone who might slip through the cracks otherwise.

And so it begins.... the best of intentions, thinking that .gov is the best group to handle one small item......

Remember .gov little toe, once allowed in, is soon followed by a giant that demands more and more control of your life.

So go ahead and soon you will have even higher score from the Brandy bunch....you just won't have as much freedom ........soon you will find yourself with a A- just like Maryland

"a higher rating for some good things"

A higher rating from them is the last thing you want, period!
Don't be suduced with the idead that somehow a higher rating is higher in real life. The libtards think a--backwards don't fall for it. A higher rating means less freedom and more .gov in your life.

self regulation, community involment, educated public community awareness of unsafe conditions solved at a local level is not easy but the only solution to insure your freedom. Turning over control to anything higher than a local level, while easier, results in more .gov intrusion into your life.

Actually, it was only that one section, I guess, that seemed better.  In all honesty, I would really rather see firearm checks go through local government.  I don't know that I want the Feds to know about every gun purchase, and if the state runs the check, it doesn't have to go to the federal level.  I MAY be missing something here... but this seems to reduce federal involvement in firearms, and bring it to your locals... which in the long run, is what most people that prefer freedom, want.

Err... scratch what I just said.  I re-read the Brady site.

Do state police perform a background check in addition to federal NICS check?

I was under the impression it was state police INSTEAD of federal... but, it is state police IN ADDITON to federal.  I would be ALL FOR state police over-seeing the bacground checks... without federal involvement.  I kind of thought it odd, that you could get higher ratings for things being better.  :-)

Yeah, just remember them there libtards think a--backwards. If you aren't always on guard constantlly they will sneak one by you.

They always make it sound good, but if you look closely there is always a little bit of poisin in what they feed  you.

You guys don't keep up with current events in Idaho or what?  Otter wants to sell off our public lands and now we see that Brady spouts anti-gun rhetoric.  These two will no doubt be our candidates for Gov and they both suck.  We need a third choice or we'll have to hold our nose and pick one.

Brady as in the national figure against citizens right to keep and bear arms.  NOT the local political figure.

Brady from the Brady Campaign was the dude shot in an assassination attempt on President Reagan.  He is not an Idaho political man.
Jim Brady would be a dumbass to try to run for any office in Idaho.

Do YOU not keep up with current events in Idaho or the rest of the country when it comes to your right to keep and bear arms or what?  Read the link above and also read this
