Don't forget to lube it. Just spray the bolt with break free CLP. It should look oily but not dripping wet.
You may notice a sproing noise when you fire it. If it annoys you It can be solved by the following. Push The rear pin sideways and pivot/swing the upper up. In the back of the lower at the front of the buttstock is the buffer. Push down on the little detent that holds the buffer and spring in place. Remove the buffer and apply a healthy dollop of heavy grease to the inside of the tube and reinstall the buffer and put the gun back together. The grease acts to quiet the spring andeliminate the sproing noise |

Glad you own a rifle. The very first thing I'd do, and I do mean the very first thing is to get that barrel threaded and have a flash suppressor added. It's awful easy to ruin the gun by banging that muzzle into something and damaging the crown. Getting it threaded shouldn't be too difficult to expensive and flash suppressors are only a few bucks.

You eventually might find that handle to be a little to much for that setup but other than that is a very good start.
We need range report till we can give an honest thought tho and your in Texas so hurry up and get some sort of muzzle device on that thing it will make a huge difference |

Get a sling/sling adapter. You will need to remove the castle nut on the buffer tube BUT BE WARNED (I learned the hard way), there is a detent spring that will shoot out the back. Cup your hand over or you will be crawling around the ground looking like a fool. Easy fix, which I suggest, is tap the hole and put a screw to hold the spring - if you want to disassemble the gun often. Look at the AR build/maintenance forum for assistance. I doubt that sight will withstand much abuse so be warned.
Mags are cheap and can be had for under $10. Right now is the perfect time to get into EBRs since the market is flooded. |

Congrats! I gotta couple of those XM15E2S from Bushmaster, sold 3 but kept 3. Still fun to shoot after all this time. And that HBAR barrel takes a licking & keeps on ticking - just a TOTAL thrill to unload a 30rd mag in about 1-2 minutes (or as fast as my finger can pull the trigger and get the muzzle almost back to target). Take care of that red-dot if its a good one - you'll want to mount it onto your next build, which I'm betting might be an A3 flattop. I'd also get that muzzle threaded and put a muzzle brake or FS, like the other guy suggested.

Remember to get a free floating quad rail/fore-end if u want dead on accuracy from a scope. Might not matter much with a 1x reddot, or at 100 yds, or with cheap Russian ammo though. Makes me a little misty eyed. Remembering my first A2 stock from Colt. Before the bipod and optic. Then the countless M4orgeries with all their countless upgrades: new rails, new stocks, new pistol grips, sling upgrades, forward grips, and optics. Then the SBRs and silencers.
