I am going to lap and break in my new savage 308. I am looking for a bore guide anyone near Henry County got one they could lend out for a bit ?

When you go to buy one, get a Mike Lucas. Hands down the best bore guide in the business.

Fixed the op I was thinking bore guide and typed bolt guide for some reason...

How much are they ? Cant find much info on where to get one or how much...

I emailed Mike recently to get a guide for my CZ and he hasn't replied. I purchased one from him for a Winchester several years ago. I may end up going with a Neil Jones as I have those, too.

I don't see any point in Lapping / Breaking in a gun that you plan to only use a bore guide on temporarily.

Its a necessary piece of hardware for cleaning and not damaging both your rods and your bore.

What exactly are you planning on doing to your barrel? Much of the internet banter about complicated breakins / lapping is totally unsubstantiated.

I haven't tried Sheps guy yet but I have a few of the <$20 Possum Hollow nylon guides. They get the job done. Certainly room for improvement.

I have never herd if one until a few weeks ago never used one before but I guess I need to start.
