A reliable source who has several friends in the Border Patrol tells me that they have been ordered to "stand down" while the flow of illegals increases. The rate of border jumping has increased recently due to desire to be here when the impending amnesty is officially declared. The administration apparently wants to have no embarrassing incidents at this time.

Secondarily, opening the border over the vast stretches not covered by the Minutemen in their current operation will cut down on the Minutemen's "body count", thus damaging their credibility.
