So...Next blast fest Jan 7, or 14th maybe?
BTW: My Sabre midlength looks awesome, now it just needs an ACOG. |
Funny you say that, my wife just picked up "our present to ourselves" a few days ago. A Kodak EasyShare CW330. Its got 4mp and 3x zoom I think, it seems pretty nice. I've tried doing a few pics of the AR's but my digicamera fu is weak. My pics always seem fuzzy or out of focus. I wish taking pics like Stickman was easy.
And then I find out that my wife hasnt set up the software to upload the pics yet. Hopefully today we'll get that done. I'll post some pics here and then I'll probably have to hit all the pic threads of the guns I own (AR, AK, SKS, shotgun, Sig, and Baby Eagle)
Spiff: You'll be happy to know I did a super, hella cleaning on the Sig and Baby Eagle. I even cleaned one of the AR's |
I vote for the 7th, the 14th is to far away. Now I'm thinking that I'll need to build a mid-length with my extra A2, or for a marginal extra cost, get another A3. Also, I implore you Jollyroger to *not* get an ACOG. Because if you do, I'll be forced, in the spirit of "keeping up with the Jones's" to get one to. Which might seriously stress my wife causing her to do bodily harm to, first me, and then you guys ('cause I'll be forced to blame it on you). I really like Jollyrogers Troy BUIS, it does seem that lots of people are having problems with them. Which should not happen with a $150 rear sight. |
And it seems that people have had the same canting problem with the EOTech, so I'll be sweating it until I get mine (about Tues or Wed) and mount it on it's new home.
The 7th ought to work for me.
I think it would be pretty funny to see you show up with a new ACOG and a blackeye at the next blast fest Spiff!! I support your choice for the mid lenght! I like mine quite a bit! And about the Troy, is this something that they have fixed? I wonder if you could ask Steve at ADCO or Paul at Bravo or any of the other guys that carry it to look at it first to make sure yours wasnt canted. |
The EoTech I looked through looked a bit weird at close ranges, might have been me though. Looking at the midlength right now...yeah it definitely needs an ACOG. |
Now I asked you guys who had looked through one before!! Well, who had shot one. And no one said anything!! If it doesn't work out I'll sell it and get a Comp ML3, I'm flexible and the person I'm buying it from has a 7 day return. If returning it does not work out I'll discount it $20 and it will go instantly on Ebay, Gunbroker or here in the EE. Lots of people like them though. Hindsight being what it is, maybe I should have run over to Boise Gun and taken a peek through the 552 they have. Maybe I'll start putting ACOG's on *all* my A3's!! It would more or less be just one less rifle I'd own for every ACOG. |
7th it is!
I had just looked through the EoTech for the first time yesterday, and out at like 20yrds it looked good. It'll be fine. Now, the question is, after I save up another $600 should I go Kimber Warrior or Acog? Decisions decisions. |
Ugh. The troy link I posted was just the tip of the shitstorm
admit it, that 2.25" grouping at 100yds with the acog is persuasive. 1/7/06 blastfest......MUAHAHAHAH!! |
The most irritating part is that I have a cheap Tasco scope with a picatinny rail adapter. It sits perfectly straight. Yet numerous people are having problems with a $150 iron sight?
I think Jollyroger should sell me his. Cause I do like the way it functions. |
Sell you mine! Hahahahaha...you crack me up.
Actually I did a lot of researching before I bought mine. I found a couple of threads about the Troy, both good and bad. But I gave it a whirl and came out fine. I really wonder how many of the canted ones are out there, is it a lot or just a few people making a big noise about it? I also kind of like the looks of the LMT fixed BUIS. Basically a chopped A2 carry handle, and solid as a rock to boot. |
So is the Warrior the 1911 you've decided on? What made you decide on it? I'm thinking about going for broke (literally) and getting a Colt. Looks like they are running about $1300 or so. The blue satin nickle ones look very cool. If I went with this expensive of a pistol, I'd probably have to use the CC, which I *just* got paid off end of last month!! I had a blast shooting the Springfield last time. The CZ was defiantly more accurate though. Well, till it broke. Damn I'd like to get my hands on a *real* Gov. Issue 1911. |
I've heard good things about the Warrior, GI style plug and rod, internal extractor, accurate, plus its got a rail. Looks good and is reliable as all get out.
Although I would really like to have a "normal" 1911 without the rail too, someday, such as: Yost-Bonitz They make some sweet assed custom guns off of a GI Springfield or a Colt gun. Or this Wilson You pay a pretty penny for those though, but I think it would be worth it. Colt pistols do look sweet, I have to admit. I think the 70 series is supposed to be absolut sex when it comes to 1911's. |
Oh yeah, ar10er said he would bring a couple of his Colt 1911's out next time.
Are you seriously thinking about a two-tone, nickel and blued 1911 What would JMB think? |
I had a Combat Elite, it was the shizzle, sold it for a song. |
I am overlaping my 2 week notice with my training, and I have only done two days of training, but it is cool so far, wandering around underground. I will start my first day of "real" work on the 17th. |
The above is why I have not been able to make a shoot, and I will be late to the ones I make in the future, as I will get off at 0700, then go home and sleep for a few hours.
Gotcha, I too will be working night shifts pretty soon as part of my promotion. That means 18:30 - 06:30 Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday.
Are you bringing the Blackhawk vest to the 7th shoot? Luckypunk has been talking about it quite a bit ever since he saw it. |
Yes, I shall. I have to go do my last day of patrol now. Merry Christmas! |
Well since you asked...More Corona!!!
Have you guys tried McEwens Scots Ale. 8% and smooth. It's imported from Scotland and its not near as bitter as the American knock-offs. Mmmm. |
A New Vintage Wine Shop in Meridian, but there is probably somewhere in Boise that could get some for me.
I really need to set up this damn computer to get my pics on here. |
I got a weird sound coming from mine. I cracked open the case and it looked like the dust fairy set up camp in there. I think the processor fan is about to crap out on me.
Do you know how to replace that stuff?
I'm pretty much a dumbass when it comes to fixing computers. |
Now that's ironic
I built mine. never had an erector set as a kid |
Yes I had a good set, they were all red white and blue blocks. I don't know If I'll get Emily a set, they're a sonofabitch to step on.
Computers are easy to build. They pretty much just plug together. in fact I'll (likely)be getting a new video card with a gift cert. mom sends me for Xmas. and have another board, procesor, ect if yours needs upgrading. |
Well I'm sitting here gaming, waiting on a 2 gig download for an expansion pack to a game. Did you two go shooting yesterday?
No, but I figured that picture would get you all hot & bothered.
What download? |
It did get me all hot and bothered. It's an expansion pack for Battlefield2 called special forces. |
BF2 looks real good. Along with the Vid card I think I'll get the game FEAR. It'll be the first new one since DOOM 3 came out. Yes, it's been that long.

I don't know if linking this is kosher or if it will work, but it's funny... this guy must be crosseyed |
Spiff was laming out a lot last night, reading AR15.com and not playing the games we were playing. We are playing a lot of COD2 and BF as of late. We should play more Fear and Battlefront 2, as well.
Just noticed that link, man that guy shoots like Ryfter!! |
Had to watch it again, so funny right at the end, you just know he's concentrating on the shot, then the gosh! After watching that, I think my 1 shot-1 kill 120yd. shot on a running deer seems purdy good.
anyone playing Brothers in Arms? |
I'm thinking it was a good dose of "Buck Fever".
No but we play Call of Duty (CoD). Its pretty close. So is Medal of Honor. Also, has anyone used one of the ARMS#118, 119 or 120 rear sights? |
Ok, sorry dont mind me.
My picture taking fu is hella weak Nope never used any of those ARMS sights, never even heard of them. I've heard of the #40 though. Oh and dont mind the mess in the pics...I had just opened a bunch of stuff from the UPS guy. Hey where'd that box of Black Hills 68gr .223 come from? Thanks luckypunk! |
Woot! he's on
I like the first one, looks like some sort of calvin klein "obsession" ad. |
Hey, I wasn't going to say anything about the Black Hills ammo until Xmas!! But now that you know who has let the cat out of the hat.....Thanks Luckypunk!! |
Hey Dude, wrong caliber of ammo for that pistol!! |
Rear sights here. And your right, they are all #40's I was looking at the wrong number. So anyone used the #40? |
