I'm planning on taking a trip pretty early on Friday to Cabelas. They have some pretty good deals, specifically, a Ruger 10/22 Take Down for $279.

Anybody planning on going anywhere on Friday or know of any good deals locally?

I have a strict rule about Black Friday. I don't leave the house.

We go to ghetto Walmarts just to keep it real.

Having worked retail for a few years, I also abstain from BF.

If they are doing take down 10/22s for $279...I wonder what the regular model might be going for?  They make awesome loaner rifles for Appleseed instructors!

Cabela's is giving away a bunch of stuff for early-comers.  I'm trying to find the details on how it actually works.

Cabela's BF ad

The standard 10/22 wood stock is $199.99.

Hope you plan on going many hours before hand to stand in line with the other people for those 10/22's.  Im sure they have like 2 in store.

I have done the black Friday thing. Typically it is only for the obscure stuff. The last time I went was a few years ago for LCD monitors. I can't image going to Cabela's. They are crazy busy pretty much anytime let alone the craziest day of the year.

Good luck to you sir. May the feet that trample you be light and soft.

My wife insisted on going to Cabela's last year for Black Friday. We got there an hour before they were set to open, and the line to get in was wrapped 3/4 of the way around the building. We turned around and headed to Gander Mountain in Germantown where the line was a wopping 5 people deep.

Yep.
Normally agree.  I am flying to Utah to visit my sister for TG.  I don't think we will leave her house either.

Nobody has been cheaper for 10/22s than $199 in a while.  I am still finding used ones for less than $150 though.    The Marlin 795 has been the best deal going in new rifles for LTRs lately.

I don't quite go that far. I'll leave the house, but I won't drive into the city.

I will be out and about, but at work. No shopping for me. I usually hunt online deals vs. the chaos that BF has become.

$199 is not even a super awesome price, I have seen them for sale before at $208 at Fleet Farm.  I wouldn't do Black Friday for 10 bucks.

These days, $199 for a new 10/22 from a retailer is considered a great price. $229 seems to be the "normal" price now.

Except at gander. 229 is their regular sale price.

It's still deer season...  so I don't leave the woods. I tried the BF thing a few years ago, by going to Menards in Rhinelander at 5:00am. I figured I could still be back up to Eagle River area, and in the woods, by 7:00am. I got to Menards at 5:00am, there was about 2,000 people in line already. I never even shut the truck off... turned around immediately and went back north. I did make it into the woods by sun-up. Never again.

Walmart is still at $209 (everyday price) AFAIK.

Oh, I forgot... Walmarts down south no longer sell firearms. Rhinelander still does,  I was there today. They had 5 or 6 differant ARs in the gun rack, too. Sig Sauers, Colts, Windham & Bushmaster, DPMS Sportical (.556 & .308). They also had a few .22LR versions.  A nice Mossberg 930 Tactical too.

Some southern Walmarts have guns. Mukwonago for example.

The walmart in Mukwonago had them at $227 when I looked today.

I really didn't look at the 10/22 prices today. I was too busy looking at all the other cool shit in the two round gun racks. One was half full of AR "type" rifles. Last time I was there I did look (about mid Sept) and they were still $209 then (I was more interested at the stainless/synthetic model at $249.95).

I was at Mills Fleet Farm in Antigo yesterday, and I did look. They're still $209.88 there, for sure.

The gas for me to get there and back would easily erode any savings. I'd have to buy a ton of shit to save anything.

Dicks quoted me (they didn't have any in stock) 279 for a regular and 315 for the take down model.

So I consider 315 the upper limit for shopping for one.

Dick's BF ad says the 10/22 @ $180 is only valid Friday and Saturday?  How'd you get it today?  Is this a "Dick's Club" special or something?

Print ad says one thing, in store corporate printed labels say otherwise. Surprised me, I just went for teh last day of the Troy deal.  Apparently that's good all weekend too.
