Where do you get your fingerprints taken for NFA transfers in Berks County? Sherrif's office says they don't do it(or can't). He said maybe Northern Berks could do it. Anyone around this area have experience with NFA transfers? Who did your prints? I'm most likely going to be getting a suppressor in the next few weeks. Well starting the process anyway.

you should be able to do it the same place they finger print the bad guys / crooks / criminals ,..you may have to make a appointment,. and pay a fee,...same with the photos if you want them done there. make sure you use the blue finger print cards from the ATF site as they are already pre addressed.

all of this should be in the county courthouse. i already went thru the hassle of doing all of this for my SBR paperwork in the county i live in,..but it wont get signed until i have lived here longer ,.. so before you jump thru all the hoops make sure you can get a signature

good luck,.. hope you can get your new toy.

I talked to the guy at the Sheriff’s office. Not sure what title he has, clerk deputy, etc. But he said getting it signed should NOT be a problem. I have a Carry Permit that was issued by the same office.

That's who I'll call first when the time comes. By the way where did YOU get your pics taken for the forms?

I haven't even spoken with a Dealer yet but I want to have an idea what I'm doing before I start so I can everything done as quick and painless as possible.

I took my own digital pics, cropped & resized them and printed them on photo paper.

My brother works for a local Twp that borders Reading.
He always does my prints @ N/C.

I'll give him a call and see if he can do your prints, and if they charge for them.

ART

Edited to add...

Just spoke to my brother.
He's 'gonna do my prints later tonight for my SBR.
I've got extra fingerprint cards if you want to do it tonight. He said there's no fee involved. Just a quick simple form he fills out to account for his time doing it.
If you're not available to do it this evening, just contact me and I'll arrange for you to meet him at his Dept for prints.
You will need to supply your own cards.

IM inbound.

A signature is no problem at all.
I've sent paperwork for three supressors and two MG's across his desk for a signature... I will be doing an SBR soon too.

Just came back from my brother's Police Dept. with 4 freshly done fingerprint cards.

He pretty much just rolled the ink on the plate and let me do it myself.

I just dropped off paperwork for two SBR's this morning at the Sheriff's office.
It costs $5 per set of (2) forms.

I'll update when they come back signed.

They charge you to sign them??? Sounds ILLEGAL to me.
I live in Tulpehocken Twp., my local Police Chief signs them for nothing.
I have always heard that the "lower" you go the better for BATF. Meaning Local chief is better than a County Sheriff, in their eyes. No proof on this, just something I heard.

I have no problem paying $5 for a set of forms. I'm pretty sure it's just to cover the cost of postage. He doesn't sign them "on the spot". He just mails them back.

Cool that was quick. I still have to wait a week or two for the funds to start my process.

Yup, I was surprised as well...  Last few times it took a couple weeks to get them back.

Everything is already on it's way to BATFE in WV. My wife mailed it Certified mail earlier today for me.

I'll update this thread as I go thru the process so you have an idea what you'll be dealing with.
I figure it will be sometime in the beginning of September when I get the approved forms back.

I just talked to Henry from Smith Specialty Arms. He has some Gemtech Outback II's on order and he's gonna call me when they come in. As soon as they come in I can start the process of getting my first NFA item.

hell i payed 30 bucks for the pictures and fingerprints for my SBR paperwork,...then a few months later i was told that my Co. Sherrif would not sign because i did not live in the area long enough,...never mind the fact i was just comming off active duty and still green behind the ears.(OIF combat vet,..beeen back in the states a bit over a year now,.. in Nat Gaurd,. gov. employie at FITG,.CCW permit holder)

but yeah i guess you have a pretty good thing there,..i wish i could get my SBR paperwork signed for $5 bucks,...of even just signed would be nice.

Hehe...

I just bought a Walther P22 and TAC65 suppressor from Henry on Sunday.
He was at the V-Forge gunshow and looked like he needed some business.
I still had a set of completed fingerprint cards leftover from my two sets of SBR paperwork.
Figured I might as well use 'em instead of letting them expire.

Should look like this once the suppressor paperwork comes back in a few months.

Yes that is the correct number. His hours are 4pm-10pm.
I think he had some Outback II's left, but he may have sold them. Just call and ask, he is a very nice guy and will answer any questions you have. He also carries AAC Pilot's, Tactical Innovations (not sure which model, maybe all 3?) and I think he said something about SWR Warlock's.
