I built a toy.

My stepson is pulling the trigger.

Ballistic pumpkins...

Very cool.  What was the approximate distance?

Awesome. That called a floating arm trebuchet iirc.

With 180# of counterweight, a 5# pumpkin is going about 500'. I need to get some high-frame-rate video so I can see how the sling is releasing. I'll futz around with it until I get a 45° release point.

Today; it's pumpkins.

Tomorrow, it's flaming pumpkins.

Way cool.... good job.

Are you going to do some pumpkin chucking?

Way cool. Like to see the flaming pumpkins!

I'll figure that out.  Right now the sling is made from polyester webbing so it would be damaged quickly if it were loaded with a flaming projectile. I'll need to make another sling out of flame retardant material.

Annnnd... I need to learn how to make extra-sticky napalm, or something else that's suitable.

Your own design, or took plans from trebuchet.com?

Gonna be a bitch finding a holster for that.

My own design. I saw a picture of a floating arm trebuchet about a year ago, and I "understood." Although I usually play the clown around here, I might have an engineering degree or two. But that's boring. Being the clown comes more naturally.

I'm starting plans now for a golf ball trebuchet.  I'm going to sort of "back into" the design by specifying the counterweight first; I'm going to drop 150#.  I've never heard of trebuchet.com. I'm going there now...

I'm going to drag it through the local farmer's market, locked and loaded. I HAVE RIGHTS!

Was there a pic in the OP?

Off topic, we just moved to Caledonia, I wonder if you drive a truck I see around with a Magpul sticker on the back.

Holy shit, there really is a trebuchet.com

I was just joking, but looks like the joke is on me

Nope. No gun brand or political stickers on my vehicles. I prefer to be "invisible".
