Here is an interesting option for a Shoot/Meetup in Ramseur for an Appleseed shoot. The course there is 1 day at 25 yard (best for .22LR) on fundamentals and a second day at up to 400 yards. If you follow directions and have a steady hand, they give you a little green 'Rifleman' patch. They don't hand out a lot of the patches. Ramseur is the home range of the national program. I've done it twice, and have 1 patch.

Here is another option for a NRA sanctioned match in Salisbury. I shot here a few time years ago. They ran a good match and have a nice facility. $20 is less expensive than the $75 2-day Appleseed event.
Dates: July 18, September 19, November 21, 2020 https://rcwa.club/high-power/ The main comparison between the two is the Appleseed event will have many instructors to coach shooters. They will coach you as much as or as little as you want. Very family/kid friendly. The NRA event will have a range officer and may assigned a seasoned shooter to supervise a new shooter to ensure safety, and rules are known and followed. To be fair, most of the NRA shooters are more than happy to offer advice to new shooters on how to setup in the various shooting positions. |

I think an Appleseed would be an excellent event.
Personally, I'd vote for a September timeframe. My summers can get pretty crazy.
