I just ordered a case of Tannerite for FDCC use (my partial stash remains available if we run out). The targets as shipped are 1/2 lb apiece, but interesting results can be obtained with smaller amounts. The 1/2 lb bottles look to be about pint size (?) If anybody can scrounge up some clean, dry bottles (pill bottles, et c.) of smaller sizes (including pill bottles) with lids, post here with a count so the COF designers will know what they're working with.

It doesn't matter to me how we use it, or in what quantities.

Hell Yea!

What kind of spec are needed for the bottles?

Screw on lids? Snap on lids? capacity?

Will these work?

225 of these for $25

270 of these for $26

I think either of those would work. I have gotten it to go off in a loosely taped .22lr box.

If pill bodels will work I might be able to get some.

I have a lead on about 150 plastic spice bottles with lids.... for free.

Is 150 enough? Or should I get more?

Well, if my estimate is correct, we're talking about subdividing 20 pints of good stuff. That's 320 ounces (volume), so 150 2 oz (+/-) bottles would about do it. I assume 2 oz will be fun, though not the, shall we say "arousing" experience of a half pound. Of course, we don't have to use it all this month.

I should have a case of them for the shoot this month. I have access to cases of them for about $20

Nate, are you for sure getting the bottles?

If not I can get them.....

I can get them. I will call now to see if they will be ready for the shoot this month.
I should have a case for this month. I cannot say I will because I am relying on someone else.

OK cool, well just let me know if you can't get them.

I can get mine on a short notice if needed.

Will do. How big do we need them? Any specific bottle/lid configurations?

As I say, in my experience a couple of ounces (tablespoons) is nifty and noteworthy, if not chubb-inducing.

ETA: It will explode with far less containment than black powder demands.

Consider swinging by a 1 hour photo developer? You may be able to pick up a bucket of 35mm film cans for nothing?

Just a thought.

Are these little bottles of joy going to be incorporated into the COF?

They could make for a really fun shoot off

That's what I'm hoping.

Looks like the Tannerite should probably stay at home.

Subject: Re: [FDCC]TANNERITE

While the range rule states, "No tracer or incendiary ammunition allowed", I have done some research on tannerite and there is no doubt it has incendiary properties as well. We have already had one individual attempt to set the forest on fire, and the property owners, the US Forest Service, were extremely unhappy about and investigated that incident, resulting in severe penalties to the shooter. We do not wish to have our range shut down for allowing your club to shoot exploding targets. Under no circumstances will any exploding targets or incendiary compounds be allowed at the Osceola Rifle and Pistol Range. Failure to adhere to this ruling will result in barring the Florida Defensive Carbine Club and/or it's members from the use of this range. I appreciate your desire to, "Get a ruling from Steve", and I expect you to continue to do so regarding any deviation on your club's part from the approved use of the Osceola Rifle and Pistol Range. Please ensure t hat each of your club members has read and understands this email, thanks.
