No other state has produced more guns seized by police in the brutal Mexican drug wars than Texas. In the Lone Star State, no other city has more guns linked to Mexican crime scenes than Houston. And in the Texas oil town, no single independent dealer stands out more for selling guns traced from south of the border than Bill Carter.
This Story

Carter, 76, has operated four Carter's Country stores in the Houston metropolitan area over the past half-century. In the past two years, more than 115 guns from his stores have been seized by the police and military in Mexico................

You know, I don't care one way or the other about Carters Country,

But the article starts out saying 60,000 U.S. guns were recovered by the Mexican government in the last 4 yrs, and in the last 2yrs 115 of them came from Carters Country, which makes them the #1 U.S. Dealer sending guns to Mexico?

However, according to factcheck.org the Mexican government recovered 29,000 total guns in the last 2 yrs, and it appears maybe 34% of those come from the U.S.
But then again, numbers coming from Mexico are in dispute as another factcheck.org article states that Mexico recovered 29,000 total guns just last year which would make the percentage from the U.S. even lower.
and nobody cites how many of these are M16's sold to Mexico for the army/police which are then grabbed by the drug cartels.

Well, never let facts get in the way of a good story.

Do all guns have serial numbers on them? Even the foreign made destined for foreign countries? Or are serial numbers pretty much a US only thing?

Quoted:

If those 115 firearms are sold legally in according to the US laws, then Carter is not at fault.
Let's face it:  The attempts from both govt to have "scapegoat" are well known, and it's a way to deflect the root of the problem from both govt.

Another thing I noted in the article is that they mention 115+ from Carters which makes them #1, but on the last page they cite an Arizona gun store that has 130, but they are ranked #3.
They also say there is a law which prevents the names of the gun stores from being released, but they were able to crack the security and get the names. Perhaps they should have posted this article on wikileaks.

Basically its just another anti-gun, we need more laws article.

115/29000 = 0.39%

If the Mexican government doesn't want people having firearms from this country, they should keep their people on their side of the river.

Although, I haven't been into Mexico in over a year, what gets me is that I have never been searched by Mexican authorities going into Mexico... But, from what I understand is that the US Customs/Border Patrol is now searching vehicles leaving the US, which I don't believe they had ever done, but rarely, before.

The entire "US guns in Mexico" thing is just a pathetic liberal attempt to blame Americans for the Mexican government's
unwillingness to do something about the illegal drug trade until it was too late.

Let's take away the guns of law abiding American citizens just because some shit hole of a country can't manage their
own internal affairs.
