I'm looking at going to no contract phones, so after almost 18 years I'll be dropping Verizon. The contract on my sons phone isn't up until October, so there would be an early cancellation fee.

The guy at the cell store said that since he's grandfathered in on his old unlimited data plan, he could easily have someone take over the contract. I just went in to talk about doing that, and got a different guy who said that's not possible. He said if someone assumes the line, they treat it as a new line and drop the unlimited plan (which they don't offer anymore).

I know which one I want to be right, but does anyone here know which one is actually right?

They won't let you keep the unlimited data. I upgraded my phone so I had to sign a new contract and I lost my unlimited data.

Bummer.

Thanks for the reply though.
