I have a .22lr conversion kit for my 1911 that I would like to have threaded 1/2 x 28 to accept my .22lr can.  My normal gunsmith took a look and said 'it can't be done' by the guy he relies on for threading.

I may switch to the Marvel Unit 1 conversion kit, and on their website FAQ they state that their barrels are not factory threaded, but that this can be accomplished by a competent gunsmith.

So, does anyone know of a gunsmith - preferably in north central FL - who can thread barrels?

Kurts Kustom Firearms  He does excellent work.  Did 5 or 6 for me.  $50, & he includes protectors.

If you want one of the best in the industry for 1911's I would go to Paul Liebenberg in Palm Bay

LRM

Lee Minor does excellent work.

I was going to suggest LRM also, however I don't believe Lee is accepting any additional work right now.

Honestly, man.  Scoot it off to Kurt's Kustom.  You will not be disappointed.

For a rifle (wanting to turn my Daewoo DR200 into a pseudo, FAL-ic, para carbine), would I need to just send the upper, or would the 'smith likely want the whole thing so he could test fire it upon completion?

Kurt can do it with  just the upper, AFAIK. Call him first, however.

IMHO, Kurt's the best. Had him thread my AR 2 weeks after the Sunset. He did a great job, good feedback, etc. He's even been published in some of the magazines I pick up at Publix every once in awhile.
