I'll be arriving in Grand Junction by 3/1, and was just testing the ar15 waters and see if there are any fellow gun enthusiasts out there?  Where do you guys shoot, and what are the good gun stores?

I'm in Garfield Cty, about 60 miles east. There are a few members in Mesa Cty, but they're not real active on the boards.

Jerry's Outdoor Sports is a real good store. I know where to find him, but I think he's listed as being in Clifton. A Pawn Shop down town does $10 transfers, unless he's raised them in the past couple of years. There is a Sportsmans Warehouse on the west side, but downtown is a place called Crime Control Specialists. He has a real hard on for SW and will order you anything you want and will beat their price.

There is the Orchard Mesa Gun Club, a private range though I don't think the membership fee is very much. Not like what I'd expect you'd pay back east. There is a lot of public land you can shoot on, but I'm not familiar with just where or how to get there.

Oh, BTW, there is a gunshow the weekend of 3/11 in G.J. at the convention center. I'm really hoping I can get away and attend it. It's going to be as good as it gets for around here, but will probably be a big disappointment compared to some of the big shows that run back east.

Oh yeah. Come on over to www.Co-AR15.com. I'm the moderator for the west slope forum. The place is a bit more active for Colo. shooters than this hometown forum, but it's mostly the same guys, just a smaller board.

I have a house in Grand Junction and one in FL (going back to FL fri).

Jerry's, Sportsman's, A Pawn and Gene Taylors for gun shops.

27 1/4 Road, Orchard Mesa, Whitewater and Colbern for ranges and plenty of BLM land to shoot on.

Also, Bullseye .22 matches on Tues night downtown by the same guys that have the Whitewater range.
