There used to be this one guy who only sold ammo and he had the best prices at the show for just about any caliber.

What ever happened to that guy? He seemed to have disappeared. I wonder if the other vendors scared him off so they can charge their high ammo prices.

I'm in!

I'll be there Sat AM about the time the line gets down to a manageable level (9:45ish)

I might be able to meet you there about then.  I've never been to an Orlando show since I moved here.

I'm looking at prices for a small carry gun.  Something like a PPK or Bersa if those don't look good to me I may just go with a XD sub compact since I like the service model so much.

Ok so what all do I need to purchase a handgun in FL? Besides money

I have an out of state DL, but I am military.
In TX all I had to do was give the dealer a copy of my orders and they were cool with it.
Will that work here as well?

ETA:  Or should I bring a copy of my C&R licence as well since it has my current FL address on it?

You might have a problem there.

Even with a FL  license There is some kind of local ordinance concerning having a CCW to purchase a handgun.

Since I have one, I never paid much (any) attention to the sign so I really dont know what its all about.

Maybe someone else can chime in here.

But come on out anyway. It would be nice to meet you and maybe a private sale will come your way.

I think the sign is the same one I probrably see down here, It says something that "private sales must be to CWP holders only", i think

Ah well that sucks.  I'll go anyway just to look I guess.  I stopped by the gun shop on the way home from the TV repair place (reference Damn Lightning!! thread) and I was looking at the Compact Polymer Baby Eagle.  All I have to say is WOW!  I really like the feel and the weight of that pistol.  Would be a great carry weapon.  I think that may be my next purchase if I can find a decent deal on one.

The Shoot Straight stores here in the Orlando area seem a bit high on their prices.  So that gives me a good reason to go price shopping at the show as well.

Send me an IM if you plan on going with your cell # and I'll try to meet up with ya there.

I am not sure about the out of state thing, but you can buy handguns there without the CCW. They just transfer it to a local shop for you to pick up after the 3 day wait.

Well I know it worked in TX and if you read page three and four of the transfer form is specifically goes over active duty military with and out of state DL.  All the dealers in TX seemed to know about it, but for some reason it is a mystery to them in FL.
Maybe there are some military friendly dealers at this show that actually know the law.

In the O town there is no wait on long guns. Also you can buy with a out of state Dr.Lic. but hand guns are a 3 day wait unless you have a CCW .

Are you able to take some forms with you?  With the relevant parts highlighted?

This way, if they still don't believe you, you can say "Look at your form."

haha people named Dan must think alike.  I already have them printed out and highlighted.

Hopefully it will help a dealer see the light.

Hey Wolf...

Go see Greg from Shoot Straight. Tall kinda thin guy, dark complection, about 23. Tell him I (David Neal from Jax) sent you. "IF" he says... David??? Mention the guy who used his phone to go to Gunbroker to get a better price on a P2000... He'll know who you mean. I've bought several guns from him.

He's trying to find an Loaded MC Operator for me now. He's a VERY nice guy. He'll do what he can to get you the price you want.

Well I went today.  It was a pretty nice show.  I looked for you TC6969 but that was my first time there so I maybe I wasn't looking in the right spot.  I was wearing a grey West Point Military Academy shirt.

I saw some nice guns there, but nothing at the right price. I haggled a little with the shoot straight guys, and they did make an effort but I still think I can do better elsewhere.  Plus I need to put some stuff up on the EE before I buy the weapon I want.

I ordered a lower from Spikes Tactical with the Air Force seal engraved on one side.  Should have it sometime next week.  I'll post pics when I get it.

Went today specifically for ammo and found unbelivable prices.

The Shoot Straight vendor is just about the worse for ammo prices. Generally you get good prices on firearms but avoid and run from their ammo section.  ($319 for 1000 rounds of .223)

One guy was selling Romanian 8mm at $60 for 380 rounds (half case) which is exactly the price for 760 rounds (a full case) at just about any web site.

I had a budget of $1000 with me specifically to purchase ammo. Needless to say I left with $1000 (minus the price of cleaning material).

Its a shame, the money will now go to some other vendor who is willing to sell for a fair price. (time to search some web sites)

Gun Show report:

There is a guy at the end of the small building selling used 30 rounders for $5.00 each.  Finally, somebody gets it right!

There is a Spanish FR8 for $350 down near the reloading stuff.  It looked very nice, but I already have a jungle carbine to fill that niche.

I spotted on 2A Ishapore as well, but it looked like a "tanker" model.  Cool.  Maybe not $350 cool, but cool.

There is a knife dealer in the main bldg. all the way on the right end selling Surefire G2's for $25 even.  Not too shabby.

Spike's had his usual stuff.  Found some MecGar mags that I had been looking for.

Otherwise, nothing special.

Oh.  Stay away from the "Pentagon Light" lithium 123's.  They are cheap, but they aren't that great.  I may have even gotten a dud.
